Donald Curry vs Ike Quartey

Donald was too versatile for someone like Quartey. I see him winning a UD.

 

Quartey on points, with a dominate jab.
similar as the oba car fight.

 

All Curry.

Quartey too one dimensional & everyone countered that jab of his. It was stiff alright but everyone came over the top of it with right hands. So would a precision counterpuncher like Curry.

And that's all Quartey brought to the table. Minimal effectivesness with his right hand and he seldom threw a good left hook off the jab. Didn't fight all that smart in the ring. It'll take more than that to beat Curry.

 

You are right on the money!

 

Easy to say Curry but if Quartey is firing on all cylinders with that hammer jab things could be very interesting.

 

I was at the Quartey-Carr fight. Based on recent form I expected Quartey to obliterate Carr. But Carr gave him plenty of trouble, even dropped the bigger, stronger Quartey. Curry was a MUCH better fighter than Oba Carr, and hit way harder. His skills and ring smarts would see him past the one-dimensional Quartey.

 

Right on point with this. Though Quartey would have a" punchers chance", against Curry and his less then stellar chin, Quartey is entirely too one dimensional for the multifaceted Curry.

 

The only fight I really liked Quartey in was the Espana fight. And that guy was ready to be taken. But Ike didn't get any better & I think actually regressed a little.

 

Yeah I agree that curry was better than Carr, but Carr was very under rated, especially his boxing ability, he did well against 3 great champs, and before them fights he looked a very good prospect.
Would of been good to see that live, was it a rjj undercard.

 

I watched some of his early fights n his title fights n I think he's better fighter than what most people think. IMO.
He had the toughest run of title shots anyone can ever have n did OK in parts of every fight.
