Joe was a bigger draw in the UK at the time. I hadn't thought of it. He could be a promoters nightmare with the "hand injury" stuff, but you might be on to something.

Joe was at the very end of his career, and despite another poor Byrd card, UD'd Hopkins in his first fight at LHW.

You can't use other fights as an example.....

Just like I can't suggest that Calzaghe defeated a much younger Hopkins more convincingly than Kovalev did.
Kovalev then arguably took the first bout against Ward.
    Therefore Calzaghe > Ward.

    It doesn't work like that.

But I believe that Calzaghe could beat Ward.

Joe was a bigger draw all over the world at the time and if he wasnt a fat ( for 168lbs ) 96 years old with s hagged hands he probably would have gone for it and done very well in the super six and a heap better than the likes of Kessler who he'd previously beaten , like I said instead of Froch slating Calzaghe at every given opportunity he should be dropping to his knees and kissing Joe's B all bag as it was Joe moving up to 175lbs cashing out in the states that made Carl imo .

he went for a kessler level opponent after a 10 year wait as titlist, his last SMW fight. #

The evidence suggests the opposite, that he would have ideally staved off any such fight for a decade.

But 11/10 for your commitment against the evidence, i applaud you mate.

to be honest oyu have to compare with other fighters whose best acheivement going up one weight class was a 43 year old man.

Can you find any who did joes feat? I am checking boxrec now.
like I said instead of Froch slating Calzaghe at every given opportunity he should be dropping to his knees and kissing Joe's B all bag as it was Joe moving up to 175lbs cashing out in the states that made Carl imo .
joe moving up only put a crap fighter on frochs resume as replacement for his bout with calzaghe.

froch has joe only to thank for one thing - adding a polish nobody rybacki to his resume. if joe hadnt gone to LHW, froch wouldnt have him on his resume.

so joe basically made froch resume worse by dodging him - why should froch thank him for that?

Lol Thanks mate but what wasn't true in my post ? Please put me right again , was it the FACT that Joe was fat and old with bad mits ? Or was it the FACT that Joe had already beaten a prime Mikkel that beat Carl ?

he was 36, post prime but not as you say obviously. He was not interested in getting beaten for sure.

kessler was injured but in his physical prime, you are part right, despite kess having one hand it was a very good win. joes one elite win has a questionmark he dared not to resolve.

You can't use 'Hopkins was 43' excuse when Kovalev couldn't even take out a 49, two months away from being 50, Hopkins.

Calzaghe UD'd a 43 year old Hopkins. (Byrd's cards should be ignored in every fight tbh)
    Kovalev UD'd a 49 year old Hopkins.
Ward v Kovalev l was too close to call.

Calzaghe and Ward is an intriguing match up.

i tinhk its obvious watching the kovalev fight that kov held back, the one time he got mad at the end, hopkins was in the process of having his head knocked off.
if you did see that fight you know kovie in supremacy the whole fight. if you saw the joe fight you'll know calzaghe was second to every move until he used his massive gass to outman hopkins later.

ignoring a card is what cheats do, dont be like that mate.

So you agree with Byrd's can in this fight, the one with Lewis v Holyfield and GGG v Canelo?

    Sure...

no, but you clearly disagree with the SD THAT WE ARE DISCUSSING. That is the ONLY CONCLUSION to be drawn here, which has nothing to do with me, and you shouldnt make your issue about me, mate, thats a bit classless of you.

My view on other bouts has no bearing on my view of this one, and you should be the same, or you are admitting impartiality.
