This is BS, until half an hour ago the WatchESPN upcoming schedule read "Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN - Undercard Matches (in English & Spanish, two separate links)" at 5:30pm EST with the main card listed to start at 7pm. Now the latter is still true but they have the "Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN - Undercard Matches" bumped to 9pm EST. So...we don't get the undercards live, but on 4 hours delay? For what, ESPN? For what possible reason? This is an internet stream on a site where you regularly show lots of different live things at once, not a traditional broadcast channel where live coverage of separate events can preempt each other. For what possible reason can you show the undercards on 4 hours delay but not live??!

I don’t think they’re on delay to be fair. The Cancun Boxing Facebook advertises the same undercard stream starting at 6PM so they must just be starting with the co-main and main in order to show them in primetime TV slot

Hmm, not uncommon in the far east but you rarely ever see that on North American shows (although Boxeo Telemundo was known for it for many years, but that was sort of an exception that proves the rule type deal where the practice stood out because it was so unusual)

Anyway the point is, they changed it. When my phone charges I can post a screenshot from it of the WatchESPN schedule from an hour ago; it listed 5:30pm EST as the start time for the undercards and had them ahead of the main card on the Upcoming tab. Now they've been dropped to below it with the later 9pm EST start time.

So either it was changed, or the 5:30pm was a clerical/administrative error in the first place - either way, annoying to everyone they misled.

That is the main card, right now I'm worried about the undercard matches we may currently be missing out seeing unfold in real-time.

ESPN just did it last week or the week before with a show that was in Los Angeles so it may become the new norm for weekday Golden Boy shows? It’s a bit odd though

I also saw it and noticed the change this morning and was a bit confused but then saw the Facebook post and it clarified things a little

Hmm, next long commercial break (in between the first & second fights aired) I'm running down the street for a 6-pack of Tecate. Well-played, advertising - I was thirsty and undecided on what specifically to do about it, and then BAM, huge spinning logo up on my screen.
