Not sure why so many people are up in arms about this.

Wilder weighed 214 in his last fight. That's what a rehydrated cruiser weighs. So essentially Wilder is a rehydrated CW fighting at HW.

Anyone saying Wilder could never make cruiser needs to run this through their skull. He already is a cruiser.

Lets make this real easy for you....

Wilder is 6'7 and in reality walks around at 230 plus we know this bc he said it.

He's 32/33 years old and he was about 210 in his pro debut which was about 10 years ago......

He was 214 against Ortiz and he himself stated lost extra pounds due to a minor flu.

Do you really think Wilder could be full strength and be close around 210 pounds and make a weight of 200 in his 30's and at 6'7?

Bob Foster was only 6ft 3" compared to Wilder`s 6ft 7" that is nowhere near as close, Fosters body was naturally smaller than Wilder`s which is why he could fight at light heavy, can`t exactly see Wilder getting down to light heavy! No comparison. Foster didn`t have to starve himself to make LH either and was amazingly strong even with a slim build. Foster would have knocked Wilder out at cruiser also.

14 lbs is nothing for a guy his size who has never HAD to actually cut weight. he would just train like a regular middleweight or welter.

As to the topic I'm not sure how much lower he could go with out losing muscle mass but you never know...

 

Wilder won't fight at cruiser because there's a lack of pastry chefs/special needs teachers/polish hooligans/failed football players/geriatric Cubans for him to feast on there.
