Deslaurier looks better than expected tbh.

 

Round 1

Deslaurier is circling to his left and holding up a turtle shell, nervously doing the jitterbug around the ring and putting his palms out to catch some of the Latvian's jabs & right crosses. Deslaurier is putting his elbows out to fore so that his forearms slope back toward his own face with his thumbs pressed against it tightly. Briedis is pecking wherever he can find a clean legal target with pinpoint straights with both hands. Deslaurier at one point rallies with a leaping straight 4-piece combo pitching forward off the ropes. Briedis respectfully backs off to allow Deslaurier room to circle out but immediately resumes the pressure and starts to score with single & double jabs on the face. Nicely timed right hand on the nose by Brieidis.

This won't last much longer, Briedis is utterly dominant

 

Cece is probably more talented than half your favorite male boxers.

 

This is a silly mismatch. Deslaurier in thirteen previous bouts scored just ONE professional kayo, in his pro debut in 2014. And they chuck him in with Mairis freaking Briedis, with nary a lick of pop to keep the monster off him?

Briedis is stalking, working off the jab to his opponent's head, and beginning to pepper the body of Deslaurier with uppercuts. Deslaurier is working off the ropes, experimenting with the lefty stance but finding scantly any more success defensively as southpaw, although he does tickle Brieidis with the occasional double right jab. Briedis very patient, content to break his man down gradually, investing heavily on the body and not wasting much energy headhunting.
