    Based on what at SMW?

I cant see what you are basing it on.
He didnt avoid anyone at SMW

What beating the IBF champ, fighter who had claim to his WBO title, unified WBA & WBC champ
You cant find any evidence at SMW what so ever
Well if you know his career and know the whole context of that article you would also know that it was said that he wouldnt be refusing them if they arose. He just didnt want to have tough fights doesnt mean he wouldnt take tough challenges and he did so evidence you claim is blown out of the water by the facts that at SMW he didnt avoid anyone and beat many of the whos who at SMW

We are talking SMW. He wasnt at SMW when many of these names were mentioned. You also forget that Dawson jumped out of SMW to take on far lesser fighters than Calzaghe. Stick to SMW as that is where we are at

What fact? You have taken a certain part of an article to suit you.
With these facts tell me who at SMW Calzaghe swerved

I didnt say stylistically I wrote similar threat

So tell me who did Calzaghe swerve at SMW

I asked you a question saying based on what and you have ducked it.
Yes I think having watched Dirrell struggle with Froch, outpointed by Degale, beaten by Uzcategui that yes I think Calzaghe would have handled Dirrell. As easily as Veit? Different styles. But I dont think it would have tough fight for Calzaghe like it was Froch

Depends who they beat as an overall.
If they had, they may have had claim but as it stands they didnt and didnt do anything close to what Calzaghe did or a few other at that

sooooo. Failey's saying.... that if roy jones had stayed at SMW ...and had 44 fights..... instead of becoming unified LHW champ and HW champ....then...HE'D RATE JONES HIGHER?!

    HAHAHAHAAHAHA.

    AAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.

heres one...would you rate bob fitzsimmons higher if he'd stayed at MW?! aaaaaa... you'd never have heard of Bob if he'd done that!

Its odd, I put Herol on ignore as he seemed to stalk me from thread to thread and even now after him being on ignore for so long, I notice that he still posts after me.
Very weird odd poster. Best keep him on ignore

Right, so they clearly can't match his stats. But that doesn't mean that they weren't better than he was.

Joe only had 2 official fights at LHW, yet you could easily claim that he's better than some of the LHW's of today and yesteryear based on a H2H basis.

Right. And the same applies to Roy and Andre.

I think that along with Joe, they were the greatest SMW's of all time.

You can't rank guys solely on stats, otherwise you'd be claiming that Sven Ottke was a better SMW than what Roy was.

Lads I missed a post earlier in this thread that went along the lines of Carl fought every fighter when they were prime or close to prime ....not the case imo .

Jermain Taylor,,,prime or close to prime ??? Lmfao Carl was having his anus handed to him for 11.5 rounds and Jermain was shot to **** by then ,

Robin Reid prime or close to it ? No sorry lads I ain't having any of that Robin had just been done by Lacy and was done with the sport way before that ,( around 9 years before that when in his prime he met a bloke called Calzaghe)

Bute ? No Bute was a Romanian hype job bowling blokes over in Quebec and getting fights stopped short when he was about to get KTFO by Andrade ,

Kessler ?? No not even close to prime after get beaten by Joe Calzaghe ,,, and carl lost that and waited until Kessler agreed a retirement money fight with him to avenge his loss .

All in all these four fighters were no where near prime or close to prime , Carl rants on about fighting in front of 80,000 fans ( 15,000 more than Calzaghe v Kessler ) but the fans in Cardiff were predominantly boxing fans looking to see WHO the best 168lb in the WORLD was for all the marbles as opposed to who was the best 168 in the UK after Joe retired .

BTW Erroll the Lacy fight was fought because Lacy held the IBF title if I'm not mistaken so it wasn't a "2nd defence" it was a UNIFICATION fight , luckily Joe had ambitions to UNIFY all the titles and did JUST THAT when he took the WBA & WBC titles with an emphatic win over Mikkel Kessler to become the UNDISPUTED Ssuper middle weight chsmpion of the world .....and before you start all that Kessler was injured rubbish ask yourself this question mate , DO YOU THINK old Mog Palle would have sent his boy into such a fight with a damaged hand ? WELL DO YOU ? LMAO I just revisited this thread because I'm nights and bored s hitless and saw some of the c rapolla being spouted so returned to put you right again brother . I will revisit this thread in the morning where I will receive your thanks for doing so .

Based on cleaning out a division and beating 12 world/future or former champions.

168 was better than 175 at the time.

How do you explain Glen Johnson who was a journeyman at 168 being able to go to 175 and beat all their best men and be a bonafide top 3 guy?

Ottke is a greater SMW than Roy was.
You cant rank based on what you think, only on facts. You were talking about Dirrells talent but I dont think you would have him as one of the best.
Also post edited above as I didnt remove quotes

G Johnson wasnt prime at that time.
The Froch/Groves fight was of a similar level to Calzaghe/Starie
