Both at their best, and the best Byrd I seen at heavy, its a beatdown inside the distance, actually gets horrible at the end. FOTC Frazier ate up a bigger stronger faster more durable fighter than Byrd..8 rounds max and 3/4 of them Byrd's getting beat up imo

I also rate Byrd as a fantastic fighter and a credit to the sport. A great human being !

Good points. Maybe the reason why I gave Byrd a better chance than most is because I remember watching him coming up as a fighter on USA Tuesday Night Fights. I really miss that show btw. Byrd back then was like a heavyweight Pernell Whitaker, he was slippery as a banana peel. Now someone like Ken Norton I think would give Byrd a lot of trouble.

Prime Joe would get inside and start "smoking". Frazier just too much power.

I think the incessant pressure would get to Byrd.I pick Joe to win this.

Byrd matches up better with Foreman IMO. Styles make fights.

Frazier was no headhunter. The Byrdman wants the headhunters and he slips about everything & he counters them to death. Frazier does not play that game. Once Joe starts smoking this gets bad real fast....Tko6. And it may be an Ellis #1/Foster type ko after softening him up and then coming upstairs.

I agree completely (helps that we have the Jimmy Young fight as a frame of reference, obviously).

    Joe Frazier knocks out Byrd.

    Jimmy Ellis beats Byrd, too.

Jerry Quarry beats Byrd, as well.

Frazier would bust Byrd up worse than Ike did.
