Will you accept small, light hitting HWs are poorly suited to being dominant champs if Usyk succeed

Great victory by Usyk. I don't know if anyone, even Holyfield, has ever had a run like he has had at CW. He's said he'll go to HW, and plenty of people are willing to annoint him the future champ. Thing is, at 6'3 225ish, he will be below average in size for the modern HW. And his style is not power based; he doesn't get flashy Ko's etc, he relies on movement, volume and boxing ability.

Someone like that has never dominated the HW division, at least since size has become more recorded. The closest we've come is Holyfield, who had an ATG career, but was clearly outgunned by the two best SHWs he fought, and who never exactly had a stranglehold on the division; and Byrd, who had a couple respectable belt reigns, but was never "the guy".

So, Usyk should show better than anyone whether someone like Ali or Holmes, who were big for their time and relied more on movement than power, could have a chance today, ehen they would be small, and whether anyone who doesn't rely on power and is smaller than the average HW will ever be a dominant HW.

Will boxing fan accept that? That the absence of something that SHOULD happen fairly regularly in boxing history but never has, is powerful evidence that it extremely unlikely? Probably not.

If Ortiz, an older, slower, heavier (overweight) and less skilled fighter can outwork and outbox the second best HW in the world......Why can't Usyk, who's superior in every department, challenge?

Uysk is a way way more technically skilled than any ranked heavyweight. He will have to deal with height, reach and weight disadvantages but alot of these heavies don't know how to make use of the advantages they have.

For me the jury is out on how far he can go at heavyweight but I know I'm looking forward to see him try.

Hardly. Ortiz has undeniable power. Usyk does not. Their fight games are completely unsimilar. Besides, Wilder does everything wrong. I actually think Usyk WOULD completely out box Wilder.. for six rounds until Wilder landed a devastating ko

You forget that Wilder is not a real SHW.

Usyk would be heavier than Wilder on fight night.

And he has enough pop to knock bambi out. Ortiz just managed to land here and there to far apart.

When I said that Ortiz would win he was labeled as 1 inch taller and 8 inches reachier with no heart problems.

Gassiev rocked Usyk. A right from Wilder or Joshua would put him out.

Whyte rocked Joshua.....Surely a right from Wlad would knock Joshua out?
Cunningham put Fury down.....Surely a right or left from Wlad would knock Fury out?

    Boxing doesn't work like that.

Wilder has to land.....I'm pretty convinced he wouldn't connect with 1 right hand in 12 rounds.

His talent at CW is undeniable but I will be waiting to see how he fares against a seasoned SHW first before I can become convinced he can dominate at HW.

    Good luck to him.

He will have about as much success as Chris Byrd or Roy Jones at HW.... which is not too bad to be honest. neither had a lot of KOs at HW, but were very fast and technical, just like Usyk.

Usyk is a little bit taller than Ortiz and has the same reach however he is 10x quicker 5x more skilled (no offense to the very skilled Ortiz), has better chin, better variety, infinitely better stamina, punch output to rival flyweights... he only has less power, I can see him absolutely toying with Wilder and Joshua, he will get caught 2 or 3 times throughout the fight but his chin will hold up

No mate, they were a lot smaller than him and had less reach and well less skilled in a pure boxing sense, Roy Jones Jr wasn't that skilled but he was a genetic freak, he had a glass chin... Usyk has an iron chin.

Please don't over hype him, he is good and will set a challenge to the top HWs but lets calm down a minute. Let him face a contender first.

To say he schools the top dogs in HW without ever fighting in the division is jumping the gun a little.

Usyk succeeding won't have anything to do with anyone but Usyk bc he is a better overall boxer then anyone at around a 200/210 mark......

The fact is if he can't make an impact in the HW division it will show you why power is important nowadays.

Ability to take a punch is important if you can't punch hard and he was hit for real solidly by Gassiev for the first time and he looked hurt. While Gassiev hits very hard how many hard shots can Usyk take bc he's going to take more?

Like I've been telling you guys he has nothing to go on for stating he's going to take over the HW division based on wins over some less experienced HWs 5 years ago.

People on here still don't understand the difference between being hit by a CW and being hit by a HW.
