Carl Froch sets the record straight on who would have won if he fought Calzaghe

Hilarious all around. Joe had the opportunity to face prime P4P level opposition but "wasn't looking for tough fights" and passed on a decent version of RJJ.

Joe didn't "ruin" guys, he simply fought them at the right time. Eubank never won another fight in his career. RJJ had been knocked comatose by the same Glenn Johnson you dissed earlier and never won another meaningful fight. Hopkins never scored another KO.

The fact is Joe fought guys, for the most part, after they had nothing left to offer, if they had anything to offer at all. Kessler and Hopkins would go on to notable fights after taking on Joe. Nobody else would.

Froch took on the guy who would become #1 P4P in the world. Joe didn't. That's a bigger test. Pascal would go on to win a title, Kessler was also on his resume, the jury is still out on Groves. I think the Bute and Lacy fights are comparable in that both looked good at the time but are clear hype jobs in hindsight.

 

You and Bailey enjoy. I'll take my champ without another undefeated champ down the road that he never fought.

1. it was a joke. Ottke's resume is the biggest joke in modern boxing history.

2. I called Andre out on that at the time. Yes, Bute attempted to bypass the Super Six and get right to the winner but he was the only logical opponent at the time. Ward's attitude wasn't right. I do think he would have fought Bute had Bute gotten past Froch, but we'll never know.

i've already told you, in my view yes. You asked my opinion of his best win, I gave my opinion. You failed in your intent through the simple mistake of asking my "opinion".


Since you were found wanting there, you now change tack by asking me Kovies best three wins. I wouldnt say Ward because it was too razor thin, was a "great" win.

So, aside form that first fight with Ward -

1. koing Pascal, the guy who drew with younger hopkins
2. koing the new Calzaghe, Nathan Clev, easily, the nature of the win made it stand out, even with abject cheating carrying clev to his corner, he was still wiped out regardless.
3. retiring Pascal
4. half-mast cruisin to a win over 50 year old Hopkins

 

I think if the roles were reversed he would have tried to fight Ottke, which Joe apparently did as well.

My point was nothing, really. Just a joke that didn't go over all that well. I guess I could stretch to say there was another undefeated 168 pound champ during Joe's era but not during Andre's. If the roles were reversed we all know Bailey would beat that horse to death and beyond.

TBH I think there's more chance of me pushing mist up a steep hill with a pointy stick than getting either Ward or Ottke to leave the US or Germany to make the fight.

 

So beating a guy who drew and lost to Hopkins 3/4 years after JC beat him and beating Hopkins a guy who JC beat 7/8 years previous equates to clear superiority at 175......mmmmm

 

its a better win than beating the hopkins of age 50.
