I don’t think Webb is anything special, but at this point Allen is basically just being used like a crash test dummy
I think he has the way he takes his Boxing career..Kinda thinks its all a joke, way to layed back about it
Allen is a journeyman; taking fights on short notice without much of a chance of winning is what journeymen do. Allen only ever had the talent and inclination to be a journeyman. It was the hype and promotion that lead people to think otherwise and gave him his high profile.
Hopefully it's the last we see of him in the ring unless he decides he will take it seriously. Even then, there are so many better British level fighters we shouldn't have to see him on Sky Sports PPV cards ever again.
I'm disappointed with Allen. He's very limited there is no doubt about it. However, he has been given opportunities by Hearn. I know the opportunities came on the back of Hearn using him a bit, the Ortiz fight was a joke let's be real. But, he's had opportunities none the less. He seems like a proper nice guy and I wanted to see him do well. I was interested to see what a guy with limited talent could do given the Sky hype and opportunities. He looked like he was knuckling down and training hard at one point, he looked in decent shape. Everything seemed on course until the TD in the rematch with Thomas. Then he fights Howe again only two months after a really bad cut and then two months after he's back again getting an absolute pasting off Yoka. Dave Allen has quite clearly still got some serious money issues. It's the only explanation. All he had to do was get his head down, keep training and take the opportunities Hearn sent his way. He got outboxed by Thomas in the first fight but he could have easily come out the winner of the rematch and he was unlucky with the cut. No reason to just throw the towel in and do what he's doing now. Yes, he's journeyman standard as we all know but I'm disappointed he didn't take the opportunity to have a good run at the British title. What a shame, Dave.
Nick Webb should win this comfortably. Allen is far too defensive minded, and far too low output as a rule, to beat most of the fighters around British title level. He is only capable of beating the level below.
Thanks bud. I’d like Whyte to win but I don’t think it’ll come through...with Allen it is more heart over head, and it bumped up the odds haha. Are you doing an accumulator or single bets?
Yeah totally get why you did it...wouldn't surprise me if Allen did win. Everyone is writing him off so he might go for it in this fight. Haven't stuck my bet on yet, still having a think as ive been awful with my predictions this year!
