Out of fun and curiosity, what fighter and trainer link ups would you like to see? Or for instance what ones could strike up an unlikely partnership. Any fighters out there today who need to change trainers, if so what trainer would you recommend for said fighter. Also fighters you feel from the past that would've gone further with a different trainer? Let's see if we can muster up the perfect trainer/fighter combination!
Paul Williams and Emanuel Steward. - Steward would have taught him the importance of controlling the distance and how to take advantage of his physical attributes. He also would have taught him better punching technique. Canelo Alvarez and Roberto Garcia. - Garcia could teach Alvarez how to properly turn his punches over and maybe slightly improve how Alvarez sets up his offense. This is actually really hard to come up with. It´s really easy to say who needs/needed a change, but it's difficult to point out the trainer.
Anne Wolfe and James Toney. He’d be in outstanding shape, probably fighting at a trim and fit 160-168. Plus the smack talk in that gym would be obscene. Of course it’d probably be difficult to find sparring partners.
Pacman with Nacho Beristain. Imagine having the def/counter style of JMM matched with his own offensive prowess.
That's exactly the pair I was thinking about. I would love to have seen what Steward could do with Wilder.
