qwai by clear decision. 15 pounds, even 10 pounds makes a big difference in speed and stamina. Hagler would be slower and his stamina would suffer to the point where he wouldn't be as effective.
I think so also. Marvin Hagler probably had the best chin I ever saw a fighter have. Taking Hearns and Mugabi's punches like he did was amazing. Those two guys were tremendous punchers, and Hearns barely wobbled Marvin and Mugabi didn't hurt him at all.
Nice set of vids - in that first clip Hagler initially hurts the guy with a jab! Hagler was a powerful puncher, just because he wasn't in the Jackson or Tyson P4P category doesn't mean he couldn't destroy top fighters.
Mr. Bill hit the nail on the proverbial head. Quawi would be too strong for Marvin at that weight and would wear him down to a stoppage. Hagler was ripped to the bone at MW but wasn't a big MW to speak of. It's no coincidence that he stayed there.
Exactly,it is laughable the fantasies of the people picking hagler by decision or even qawi by close decision lol. Qawi destroys him
Qawi went 7 rounds with a comebacking, 235 lb George Foreman. 1988-03-19 : Dwight Muhammad Qawi 222 lbs lost to George Foreman 235 lbs by TKO at 1:51 in round 7 of 10
I hate to pick against Hagler. He was the better boxer, and p4p much greater than Qawi. Buuuut. Qawi I think will simply be too bullish and busy for Hagler, who really was a natural, even smallish, MW and shouldn't be at LHW.
Hagler had trouble with Duran who was like a much lighter version of Qawi. Duran got his shots in but could not hurt Hagler. Qawi on the other was much stronger and could KO much bigger guys.
Hagler fought very conservatively against Duran. And Duran was better than Qawi. But, yes, I agree that Hagler would be in trouble against Qawi. Crappy style matchup and a lot of weight are against him.
