I was watching a good film study about Ali vs Frazier and it made good points about why Ali struggled but his heavier body wasn`t mentioned once you can see in this fight that he is visibly quicker than when he fought Frazier in any of their three fights, how would a fight with Frazier have gone against this swifter Ali?

I'm sure that he hit punching bags quicker than that, and that's all London was in that fight,...a punching bag.

That`s not what I meant, his hand speed looks lethal here and he is so much slimmer than when he fought in the 70`s.

Again, I'm telling you what he had in the ring with him...a virtual punching bag...it's very easy to look like a million dollars in conditions like that.

Yeah, because he looked slow as moleasses against the best of that era - Liston, Patterson and Terrell?

The weight didn't have that much to do with Ali being faster. He was 215 lbs - the same as he was in FOTC - with only two and half weeks training camp behind him when he faced Chuvalo. And he was still lightening quick.

And in proper shape he made Patterson look lumbering and slow (yes, even before Patterson back started acting up). He was 210 for that fight, as he was for the first Liston fight.

Take a look at Ali’s second fight with Jerry Quarry in 1972.

Ali was just as fast, just as slim, just as fleet..in his very next bout with Karl Mildenberger...but in the German, he had a better fighter...a skilled southpaw with more on the ball than Brian London. More resolve...and more courageous too. Ali didn't look nearly as good vs Milde...and it wasn't necessarily because of Karl being a southpaw. It all depends on the quality of the opponent in front of you. As pathetic as London performed vs Ali, the champion knew that he could turn it all on with impunity...much like vs another opponent a few fights down the line, Cleveland Williams, who wasn't the menacing bomber who fought Sonny Liston, but a shell of himself, with bullets encased in his body. Anybody who thinks that the Williams who fought Ali was anything near what he was even in his lesser of two performances vs Liston is either delusional or just a blind Ali worshipper. With no danger presented by an opponent, the more invincible the champion can seem to be.

I hate how they are comparing Ali's 12 punch combo in 3 secs to bruce lee throwing 22 punches in 3 seconds. I don't understand. All of Ali's punches were long and hard obviously cause he knocked London out with it. Bruce Lee threw super short punches that would not inflict a knockout.

Against Frazier Ali was noticeably slower than he was in 66 and 67. Still fast, but he lost something

Yeah, it's no coincidence that Ali looked at his most invincible against his two poorest challengers (London and Williams). I do think Mildenberger was a bit puzzling style wise, though, since Ali looked better against better opponents like Liston, Patterson and Terrell.

But those fights were also probably the fights he was the most motivated for of his 60's fights.

I was talking about a combo he threw at London, it was quicker than any punching at heavyweight that I have ever sen.

You`re not getting what I am saying, I`m not even saying Ali was the best, I was just saying how fast that combo was, no other heavyweight could have throw a combo with tat speed, opponents don`t make you punch faster.
