How does Dempsey do vs heavyweights post 1970-present

    Would wlad in his prime even allow Dempsey to get inside? Can Dempsey get by his ATG jab and ATG right hand? And what happens when a 245lb man as strong as wlad clinches him?

    Lewis was one of the best punchers of all time with a great overall offense..can Dempsey handle his stuff when Lewis connects?

    Vitali was an expert at keeping shorter fighters at the end of long hooks and jabs plus he could really hit and he could move on his toes. If Dempsey does hit him, Vitali had an iron chin against punchers who weighed 240lb plus. Can Dempsey win here?

    Against fury, he’d be facing a 6’9 elusive fluid boxer who could box on his toes and move for 12 rounds..with an 85” reach and whose an expert and throwing long hooks and jabs while keeping shorter fighters out of his range. He also is an expert at using his upper body movement to avoid hooks from shorter fighters...he won easily on the cards vs an ATG 6’6 250lb man who hadn’t been down on the cards in his entire career. Could a 188lb man get inside on him?

    Bowe was an immensely strong, active 6”5 235lb man with fast hands, an elite jab, and a brutal two fisted offense. He could throw haymakers from all angles and was devastating on the inside..can a 188lb man handle a toe to toe war with this behemoth? He twice decimated a anabolic steroid injected 210lb ATG in Holyfield.


    None of these men above ever fought someone under 200lb and the smallest man any of these men lost to was at least 6’2 217lb who happens to be an ATG on PEDs, and after that you had losses to men who were 6’4-6’7 240-250lb

    I'd pick Lewis, Wlad, Vitali, and Bowe to beat Dempsey.

    I'm not sold on Fury, but he could win here. I'd pick Dempsey as Fury lacks a big punch and IMO can't take one either.

    6’9 255lb, 85” reach...an expert at using his long arms and reach, ability to fight effectively as a southpaw and switch up from time to time, ability to move on his toes for 12 rounds without getting tired, ability to throw fast combinations from the outside and never let his opponent get inside..ability to jab really well using both hands when he switches stances.

    Just too much to ask from a 6’1 188lb fighter even with his speed and power...

    Fury at his best doesn’t lose rounds...not to men 7” shorter and 80lb lighter

    Fury doesn’t have a punch, but neither did sharkey and he staggered Dempsey at only 195lb. How will punches feel from a man weighing 255lb?

    I've come to the point of giving the modern day champion, with 5 title defenses or so under his belt a spot in the top 25 based on accomplishments and a higher head to head a chance. To get to the top today, you pretty much need to be a super heavyweight with skills. Joshua qualifies.

    I think Johsua is the best around today, but I'm still not sure about how good he is. He barely defeated Wlad, age 41 out of the ring for 1.5 years. His other wins ( Outside of Whyte ) were easy matches based on his opponent's lack of skills or decision not to do much, but I have noticed this.

    He quickly fouls or rule bends and can be rocked or hurt by one punch. His defense is just all right, and I think he's careful about doing too much in the later rounds. If he faces a good opponent in his prime with some power, he will have proved a lot. A big man with an average chin and defense gives Dempsey a chance....

    If Povetkin caps him, his historical rating is in a free fall, and he'll have to regain his belt back. Povektin even at his age ( 39 for the fight ) is still skillful, durable, and has some power. He's also got old-school intangibles. On the other hand, he's old! This fight would have meant so much more 3-4 years ago. So I'll wait to see how Johsua does in this fight before saying he'll offically Dempsey. If I had to choose, now, I'd favor Joshua.

    Chin wasn't good? He was only Knocked out once, in his greener days. Easy to hit? With his constant bobbing and weaving, head movements, and footwork, while not at the level of an Ali he was a master of slipping and ducking punches in his prime.
