    Let's assume that they were.

Do you see any of these fights as being particularly important to his legacy?
If I even need to explain this to you, then you need to take a crash course in the era!
    Sharkey got knocked out period!

We can pull up the film any time you want!
You might perhaps want to look at the medical conditions that forced him to retire, which are very well documented.

As Primo's most fervent defender here ,can I direct you towards my thread on how much input Abe Attell had as his trainer and for what fights?

Benny Leonard: "Carnera had marvelous defense."

There seems to have been a lot of both good and bad spoken about Carnera.

I don't see this "Marvelous Defense" at all. Watch the Baer fight, his defense was atrocious

Holy **** the last 10 pages were hilarious.
Who would have ever thought things would get this personal in a damn carnera thread lol, primo carnera used to be a name that was dropped for comedic relief all of a sudden you got reznik and MKK getting personal over him.

Imo things just don't add up. If primo (who had an incredible build) was as athletic and as skilled as his supporters claim..
Then why the fixed fights? Why the onesided losses to much smaller HWs? Surely with a size difference that huge the gap in class must have been unimaginable for him to lose that badly.

To me it just doesn't add up that a guy that big and strong would be that mediocre as a champion of he was skilled and could hit like his record suggested.

Yeah you can explain away his flaws on film and yeah most SHWs after Lewis have also looked like a stiff, uncoordinated and unconditioned piles of garbage so maybe Carnera fits right in with the 2nd tier of SHWs in terms of the "eye test"....but it still doesn't add up.

Yeah...someone said if earlier...he had “71 kos” but no one ever classified him as a good puncher despite being 6’5 260lb

Given his size and build compared to his competition..... If he was only half as skilled as his fanclub here says then he would have been more feared than sonny liston and George Foreman combined.
A 6'5 260lb HW champ with 71KOs, more skills than Riddick Bowe and a musculature that would almost certainly draw PED accusations today facing guys much much smaller than him.
He would have been a monster among men, he should have defended his title atleast 40 times, killed half his challengers and reigned for 20 years!

Yep! Instead he was battered all over the ring by men weighing less than 200lb
