Well I don't know Loudons boxing record or financial status so couldn't for sure be certain but it seems to me yourself and him take great delight in slating him for no other reason apart from jealousy, tell me Beryl G what's your pro record ? Now here it's sunny and I'm on my new decking catching a base tan prior to my upcoming holiday with my beautiful wife , I suggest you ask your mum for the key to the back door and get a bit of sun on ya bones kid instead of sitting in your box room slating undefeated, two weight millionaire boxing champions .

why am i "stumped when men discuss boxing" when it is you who appears unaware that SMW started as proper division arund the time joe was a young man (so how can it have been his ambition as a young man to rule SMW whennit had only just arrived?)

sulrely this is more about you writing something wrong, and now be unwilling to take it back.

Now I ain't claiming to be a font of knowledge here but the super middle weight division started late 1960's if I'm not mistaken and certainly did not start just to coincide with the start of Super Joe's career, next you'll be telling us the WBO made a division specifically for him . Lmfao

IMO Calzaghe's hands were too brittle to compete at 175 after he consolidated 168. Wouldn't have had enough power to keep the bigger guys off him. Let's face it he slapped his way to wins after a certain point....even at 168.

Agreed Calzaghes hands were glass , earlier in this thread Beryl G was crying about Mikkel Kessler having to have injections on his hands prior to the unification bout with Calzaghe where as Calzaghe was probably getting the very same jabs for the majority of his career.

The division didn’t become legitimate with fighters or governing bodies until 1988.

I'm aware of that mate five years before Joe's debut @ the age of around 20 , it was a weight class he knew would fit his weight , back then he could of probably made middle but was too slight to be mixing it up with L/ Heavies . At the end of the day the 168lbs division suited him and he campaigned there . Btw prior to that i thought junior light heavy was around the 168 lbs Mark am I correct in thinking this ?

    JOSEY WALES,

He put his health at stake by continually starving himself to come down from 14 stone. And for who? Look at most of the guys he fought.

Roy moved up to LHW for another challenge, as he couldn't obtain fights with Liles and Benn to unify the division.

Joe wouldn't have been at a disadvantage at LHW, just like he wasn't when he eventually moved up.

Weaker? Weaker how? He made weight easier and felt stronger. (his words)

We know what Joe had in his mind.

We saw him cling onto a lightly regarded belt for 10 years.

He had the opportunity to make weight more comfortably, facing better opposition, with Showtime's backing. But he chose to stay at SMW.

We don't need to hire Columbo to work out why he made that decision. It's very clear.

All you've done is look on BoxRec.

If you think that the likes of: Ottke, Reid, Eubank and Brewer etc, were better than Roy, Dariusz, Hill and Tarver etc, then you've no understanding of what you're watching.
