All said and done he beat everyone to beat at super middle his chosen weight you are obviously aware that post weigh in a fighters weight can increase dramatically hence my comment where he felt strongest fighting not weakest , he chose to earn his money @ 168lbs and proved himself the best there what would be to gain by going to 175lbs ( the adoration of the fans) Lol ? fu ck that imo he did well to become a multi millionaire fighting at 168lbs and eventually moving up light heavyweight , The man at 168lbs and a trinket ring mag belt at 175lbs retired unbeaten and a multimillionaire.

    He had a great career.

He won titles, he finally got his recognition, and he retired with his health intact.

He was a great fighter. But the truth is, he took the easiest route possible, whilst at the same time trying to portray himself as a victim who couldn't get the huge fights that he supposedly desired. It was all BS.

Well if Hopkins didn't out price himself in 2002 after the deal was done maybe we would have seen him in a yank ring sooner and his career could have possibly taken a different course . Who knows he could have been EVEN GREATER

Yes, his career could definitely have been greater.

He had it all at his feet.

He had the talent, the ego, the looks, his Italian heritage, and the backing of one of the biggest networks in boxing.

He could have gone to the U.S. and made quite a stir.

Although he had a great career, if he'd have had the mindset of someone like Hatton, he could taken it to another level.

Agreed but his career is still pretty impressive to say the least even with the set backs and injuries , what I will say in his defence was 20 years back we seldom got to see any unification fights it's to his , lacys and Kesslers credit that the 168's title got unified, Ottke held his title prisoner for the entire duration of his career .

    It was impressive.

People who know me on here know that I'm hard on him. But I've never denied his ability. It's his attitude that I didn't like.

I was actually a big fan of his until I got sick of reading newspaper interviews of how he wanted to fight the likes of Roy etc, yet he refused to move up to LHW and go to the U.S. to gain exposure. I just got tired of it. I'd rather have seen him being more honest, where he'd have admitted to just being content doing what he was doing.

Regarding Ottke, it's a real shame that didn't happen. But I'd have hated it if Joe had've gone to Germany and been robbed. After seeing the Reid fight, I wouldn't have fancied Roy's chances of beating him. Reid should have just walked out of the ring. He was fighting 2 people at once.

No I haven't but I given you actual proof of why the 175 was weak or not as great as you seem to think.

Here's another one.....Clinton Woods YOU mentioned him. He's another guy who couldn't cut it at 168, got schooled by Starie then jumped up to 175 and became a champion.

How many fighters is that now who couldn't cut it in their respective weight classes but became champs at 175?

its not proof, woods career at SMW was as a novice and was green when he picked a SINGLE defeat at SMW.
By contrast he fought at LHW in his prime.

Your argument however works fine for Mikkel Kessler, who fought at middleweight for almost half his career with no international title shots...but when he jumped to the weaker SMW division he won titles immediately.

Cheers for supporting Loudon's argument man.

    Still trolling I see.

Who in fact did Kessler loose to at 160?

Woods lost to Starie.......one of if not JC's worst performances yet he totally dominated him.

    168>175.

what did he win at 160? nothing, he got nowhere, just facing bums.

it was an good points win for joe, thanks pal for a double bolstering of our brits there, its true that the former commonwealth champ was one of joes best opponents pre kessler.

And a great points win for Starie over Woods considering he lost every round to JC.

Now how many fighters did Loudon rank that couldn't cut it at 168lb?

What did Ward get at 160?

So he jumped to the weaker division....glad we see that.

    So we have 160>168>175.

Remember journeyman Johnson couldn't cut it at 168lb.
