Errol Spence: I'm Licking My Chops To Fight Mikey Garcia; SHO And Al Are On Board!

I'm just wondering if a certain section of the board will come down on Spence like they did GGG and Lomachenko for Brook and Rigo.

 

Wouldn't beat Brook, let alone Spence.


If Garcia wants a 147 fighter who shouldn't pick one who has power and is technically very good.

Mikey's team better NOT let him make this fight. He should first take care of loma at 135, then another fight at 140 (whoever best there) then he could challenge the truth.

Not a single reason this fight should be made anytime over the next 2 years. 2/3 (minimum) more fights than this should be addressed.

Huge fan of both, bigger Spence fan but no reason to put Mikey in such a brutal unwinnable fight right now

 

The only reason I think mikey is going for this fight is he’s probably been told by showtime and al Haymon that this is his only option for ppv, guys cashing out.

Just read that richard schaefer confirmed that if it happens will be ppv.

Without Mikey having fought and beaten a legit top 10 welter, it will be the same. Spence is supposed to win. It will be interesting to see whether the same section of EE ball gobblers, the racist ones, react the same way as far as praise of Spence, as they did for Lomachenko.

 

In regards to Lomachenko (all praise be to him) and Rigo we need to remember that Rigo was in fact offered the fight at 126 but chose to to stay at 122 and fight Jazza Dickens.

Defensive about what? I've been consistent in my commentary as far as the bigger man beating the smaller man. Golovkin vs Brook, Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux, Hopkins vs Wright or Pavlik etc. Usually when a good smaller man moves up to face a good bigger man, with no previous fights against legit opposition at the weight, the good bigger man wins. If there was ever a match up where that didn't happen, let me know. I fully expect Spence to beat Garcia. He won't get any extra credit from me for it. It will be nothing more than a name on his resume.

There have been examples though of a good smaller man pushing a good bigger man to the limit. Look at Billy Conn vs Joe Louis.

After 12 rounds, Conn was ahead on 2 of the 3 scorecards and the other card was even. He was stopped in the 13th, but I mean Conn definitely took Louis to the limit.

There are other examples like the smaller man moving up and winning like Sugar Ray Leonard moving up to Middleweight to fight Hagler after a long period of inactivity.

Of course Spence is going to be favored, but I think Mikey Garcia is more than just a good smaller man. He's a great smaller man. It could be an example of a great smaller man moving up to fight a great bigger man, like Conn Louis or SRL Hagler.

 

spence too big, too strong, too good. the same reasons i think mikey beats loma, spence beats mikey. size matters much more when youre talking elite levels.
