Yes that’s what I thought you meant and we have a few recent examples like GGG v Brook,Canelo v Khan and I’d also add Canelo v Cotto since Cotto looked ok but just his punches had zero effect on the bigger man.
Guys like Crawford and Lomo and possibly Mikey are anomalies in that they have to move up just to get challenged.

 

No one came down on Loma. He just deserved no credit. Spence won't deserve much credit for beating Mikey either. Difference is, Mikey won a belt at 140. Rigo never even fought at 126.

 

Very true but he was offered the fight at 126 and chose not to be great.

As for Mikey at 140 I think we can all agree he looked like he'd maxed out at 140 and 147 would be a step to far.

And Loma was offered to fight at 124, right down the middle and chose not to be great. Don't think there's any relevancy in that. Yeah, Spence doesn't deserve much credit for beating Mikey at 147. More than Loma beating a tiny and inactive Rigo moving 2 weight classes though.

As Ward was with GGG but I for one never would expect a man who had never fought at such weight to be expected to (although in this case Ward said he'd go to 160 for Floyd and had in fact fought at 160 as a pro).
