How is Mikey ducking Lomachenko by fighting Spence? Lomachenko right now is recovering from surgery. We should want them to be at their peak fitness against each other, but Lomachenko obviously isn't that now. Less than 2 months ago Lomachenko had surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder. He's injured and recovering. Lomachenko said himself in the interview he's not ready for Mikey :

With that kind of a quote and knowing he just had surgery, there's no way you can argue that Mikey is ducking Lomachenko. You've got to remember Mikey met Lomachenko in that green room and basically made a pitch to him to have a PPV fight between the two a while back. Mikey clearly wanted that fight, but he can't wait around for Lomachenko. There are big promotional hurdles to making this fight happen.

TR's ESPN deal and more recently the ESPN+ deal is also a big hurdle. Why would Mikey who has been fighting on Showtime and is looking at a Showtime PPV fight with Spence downgrade himself to fight Lomachenko on a freakin ESPN+ "App"?

To your point though, if Mikey lost to Spence, he would still be a unified Champ at 135, so the fight would still make sense. As far as the luster being taken off the fight with a loss to Spence, I think that's hard to quantify. I think the bigger concern would be Mikey moving up two weight classes and having a difficult time coming back down to 135, but that remains to be seen.

If Mikey loses a close decision to Spence, I don't think it will hurt a potential Mikey Lomachenko fight. I just honestly don't see how the fight is going to happen. Lomachenko is coming off a shoulder surgery and Arum wants to continue to have Lomachenko fight on ESPN or the ESPN+ app. Mikey is fighting on Showtime. How do you bridge that gap?

It's unfortunate as we all want to see that fight, but I just don't see that happening anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong, I thought maybe at one point Arum might consider letting Lomachenko fight on HBO if an HBO PPV could be made, but I highly doubt he would let Lomachenko fight on Showtime. I mean look what happened to JoJo Diaz, an HBO fighter who fought on Showtime and suffered his first loss.

    Who you think you're kidding?

You must be the only person on earth to see in the Salido fiasco anything else than a crafty, well-rehearsed robbery by uncle Bob, as he's well famous for delivering them.

Loma beat Linares with an injured shoulder: not only did he win, he KO'd him. Something Mickey couldn't do with average Easter for 12 rds.

Fighters are born, not made: in that department, Mickey's a freshman, and that's all he'll ever be.

And calling out Spence, Kovalev or Joshua ain't going to do s*** for him and his career.

If this lying, attention-seeking diva does go through the Spence fight, i pledge to disappear from these forums for one entire year.

    Ain't gonna happen though.

Overrating Linares is driving me insane.

Linares was and has always been a C to B- minus caliber of boxer. He took a beating and was KTFO tres beses (three times) had a history of fading and folding late in fights. He made a comeback all the sudden was the man at 135.

How? by beating them soft English boyz. He never fought the top 3 lightweights in the business. Every top 3 light weights sparks Linares. There is levels to this. Linares has always been a level or two below. Stop overrating Linares.

You made a comparison between Linares and Easter. If you just use your brain.Easter is taller, rangy, has fast twitch muscles and has never been KTFO ever.Whilst your GOD Linares has had a history of getting pummeled late in the stanza prior to fighting Loma.

    Nice Fantasy.

Loma hasn't KO'ed anybody they quit. Except for Linares who I predicted if you search the analysis threads on Linares vs Loma that Linares will fade late in the fight. And guess what that's exactly what happened. JL
came out blazing but at start of round 6 i started to see the old Linares the one that gets cut and fades again. He has a history of it.

Look, I'm a fan of both Loma and Mikey Garcia. But I can't be Bias. It's a 50/50 fight. I want to see this fight and it will be spectacular. Ya, boy! both have to prove they're the best. Mike has a great jab and power in both hands he catches Loma it could be over and Loma has the wizardry. So we shall see.

    Lol.

If they hadn't quit, they would have gotten KO'd the same in the following minutes.

And Mickey, with his usual safety-first style, isn't going to go places like Loma did.

Loma would have found a way to get Easter out of there, believe you me.

One is a good champion, the other a born fighter and a super star. It all going to transpire in the ring.

I know Jaimacans, Cubans and Columbians are known to take a knee and quit.

Mexican WARRIOR Mikey Garcia. You must be out of your mind.

You think Linares was a great lightweight. Is enough to tell me you have lost your mind and all credibility.

To be honest, I would have to watch it again to see if there were any other rounds I’d give to Linares. I remember I had the same scorecard as Max Kellerman.

Kell brook was easily out boxing Spence and quit after getting flashbacks of his hurt eye in the ggg fight. No let that sink in. Mikey Garcia has way more chance beating Spence than he does Loma who while being smaller is light years ahead of Spence in boxing ability.

He was not easily outboxing Spence stop it. Do you like to make up stuff just to be heard? Also What you fail to understand is that spence is much better now than he was back then.

Mikey don't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating Spence and what I am waiting to see is the look on his face when he realizes that in the fight. As for Kell Brook, those were not flashbacks because Spence was actually beating his other eye out of his head. That was happening in real life. lol.

I am not impressed with Spence. Yeah, he is bigger. One thing i have learnt over the years is never doubt or write off a multi weight world champion. If Mikey is elite like a marquez or a Pacquiao. If he is in the class i would never doubt him. It's just the way it is. Mikey will shock and surprise the public.
