Rumors on Twitter: RING considering naming Fury-Wilder winner the RING champ

RING magazine currently lists the Heavyweight Champion vacant.

Tyson Fury was the last RING champion.

Boxing Kingdom and others on Twitter are reporting that RING is considering recognizing the winner of the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder WBC Title Fight as the RING champion ... should Fury defeat Pianeta in two weeks and Wilder-Fury is formally announced afterward.

Boy, the tide has definitely turned against Eddie Hearn and Joshua in recent days.

 

I doubt that it will be for the Ring belt.

 

I wouldn't be so sure. Tyson Fury was the RING champion until February 1 this year. He only lost it to inactivity.

Because it will likely be announced in two weeks. Wilder has said he'll be in Belfast at Fury-Pianeta to promote it if terms are agreed.

I personally don't care who holds the ring belt.

They said Joshua-Povetkin would not be for the title and that is number 1 against number 3.

If they then approve number 2 against number 10 for the title they will lose any credibility.

 

I'm afraid that the account which started this rumour is a well-known troll account that devotes its time to attacking Hearn.

They have a good following and are quite funny from time to time - but take what they say with a large grain of salt.

 

He won't be at #10 should he win in a couple weeks.

Well, that's all the proof we need. After all, this as yet unsigned fight would be Ring 2 vs 10. That's far more compelling a candidate than the pitiful Ring 1 vs 3 contest that's actually happening.

 

Thats great for Fury and Wilder but if you go round to Oscars for a pat on the back dont eat the steak and dont touch the spoons.

 

The ding-a-lings at The Ring lost all credibility a long time ago.

They should never have stripped Fury.

They waited until he was all but back & then decided to.

Fury was still listed as the RING champ six months ago. They dropped him from the ratings due to inactivity. If he has three fights this year, one for a WBC title, he's hardly inactive.

His rating will increase with a win in two weeks.

It's entirely plausible they recognize it.

The RING could've recognized the Joshua-Parker #1 vs #3 unification matchup, but they declined. They aren't going to do with Povetkin.

We'll see, though.

If Wilder shows up in Belfast in a couple weeks, the HYPE for Fury-Wilder will BLOW sky high.

The buildup will be amazing.
