Big fights generally arent too bad in Australia, but it is the capital of small promotion robberies, no Asia Pacific foreigner who was supposed to lose has ever been given the nod in Aus, no matter how bad they school the Aus fighter.
@MidniteProwler I think you need to answer this one given I'm sure it will be a fair and unbiased opinion...
Australia is the worst most corrupt country when it comes to boxing it just usually goes unnoticed because nobody gives a damn about the low level fights out here. There are also robberies in the bigger fights more often than not. The Pac Horn was a bad robbery and that was considered a big fight also Mundine Green 2 was a big fight in Australia and that was also a robbery. One of the worst I saw as a kid was when Robbie Peden was helped by the referee who gave Nate Campbell no chance in their rematch Campbell was fighting Peden and the ref it was a joke. I was at the Star Casino recently when Tyrone Nurse was horribly robbed in a fight he dominated. Most recently Sam Soliman got a gift decision and was allowed to use illegal tactics. I still think that Farmer will beat Dib he is just on another level and although Farmer is feather fisted I do think that he will stop Dib after 8 rounds just by landing constantly. Dib will likely resort to dirty tactics so Farmer will have to be ready because I don't expect the Ref to do him any favors.
Nurse/Brubaker earlier this year was terrible... Feel like there was another bad robbery there a couple of months ago as well. Can't remember what it was though.
The problem with Aussie Boxing is that even though they are corrupt as ****, they actually think they are the righteous ones. Take Pac/Horn for example. They were so pissed off at Teddy Atlas calling it as he saw it, a huge robbery that they went so far as to ban Atlas from the rematch. You tell me, that's kosher?
Home town decisions or boxing robberies whichever way you wanna call it , happen in EVERY country around the world . The best fighter , or the one who fights the best in the ring on a given night , doesn’t always win . With boxing the scoring remains a mystery until after the final bell so that can often lead to controversy. Whether that controversy stems from poor judgment or corruption on the part of the judges , is up for debate. One thing is for certain though , there are plenty of asterisks alongside boxing wins and losses . For the record I think Tevan Farmer wins by TKO after Dib swallows too much leather . PS : Cant wait to see Brock Jarvis in action on the undercard
I think robberies are common everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if you got a robbery every 1 in 5 to 1 in 10 fights internationally. That's not really do as much to corruption as it is to incompetence. The major sanctioning bodies don't train, promote, or discipline judges correctly.
Agree totally. Their self righteousness makes me sick. Before the Crawford Horn fight the Aussie media were harping on about Horn being hard done by how the Americans were treating him unfairly and making him train in harsh conditions they are pathetic. Horn even went on some Aussie boxing show after the fight making excuses about the shoes and blisters. It was a complete joke. The fact that Horn brought out a book after the Pac robbery to cash in shows what a scam it truely was considering it was one of the Aussie media journo's who wrote it for him the same journo's who convinced the Australian public Horn legitimately won against Pac.
Australia is honestly probably the worst country for corruption in boxing. I struggle to remember a visible fight there where the Wasn't some BS
Not the imports like Sakio Bika, Darchinyan, Lovemore Nduo and Ben Rabah. These guys win because they are that good, tough, durable, skilled and too powerful at this level. But local boys have certainly gotten help from the judges.I have seen many of OZ bred boxers get help from the bias judges and refs.
