Lemmy was ranked top 3 at best and that was only for a short while. It was a good win but I think Jacobs, Canelo and Saunders are all better.

Not necessarily, Hopkins and Hagler had some hard hard fights against good fighters not great fighters. For me its longevity too you have to count..He's clearly been the best Middle of the last 10 yrs, and I don't think there's anyone he could've fought that he didn't to dispute it

Hagler had a hard and long apprenticeship, which in itself puts Golovkin's whole career in the shade. He added to this 14 title fights, going the distance only once in his 12 successful defenses of that title (against Duran) and won clearly. His championship competition were significantly better than Golovkin's in my opinion. I am not sure why you claim Hagler didn't fight any great Fighters - he obviously did.

Hopkins also fought a much better level of opposition than Golovkin. Save Mercado I, he made his Championship run look easy, until he reached 40 years of age (dropping two razor thin decisions to Taylor). Then he reinvented himself and competed two divisions north of 160, at world level, just in case anyone doubted him as being one the best around.

    That's distinguishing yourself...

...and I think the point being made is that Golovkin hasn't managed to distinguish himself in any meaningful sense. In reality, Golovkin hasn't yet managed to distinguish himself from a boxer, who is generally recognised as the world's number one light middleweight (Alvarez).

I know he fought great fighters, my point is he had hard fights like Hopkins against not great fighters, good fighters..With regards to Alvarez. There would be no rematch needed if GGG was prime, or really no rematch if the decision was fair !

Look where he was 10 years ago, he hadn't won anything, get real mate!

"After ending his amateur career in 2005, Golovkin signed a professional deal with the Universum Box-Promotion (UBP) and made his professional debut in May 2006. By the end of 2008, Golovkin's record stood at 14–0 (11 KO) and while he had few wins over boxers regarded as legitimate contenders, he was regarded as one of the best prospects in the world. Golovkin was given 4 more relatively easy bouts in 2009."

Some people can't see a great fighter even as he's knocking guys out in front of their eyes :(

Whilst one would have to agree that Golovkin is passed his prime, he didn't look all that ring-worn, did he?

It was a close fight, whichever way one looks at it (as was the Jacobs fight). But, Golovkin should have closed the show to make his mark, against a guy who was effectively holding.

Perhaps he rectifies the situation in the rematch. Failing that, there'll be little left but speculation about what he could have done in his prime and the results against his best two opponents.

Since when was racking up knockouts the bar for being great? And, Golovkin didn't knockout Jacobs or little Canelo, did he?

It was held by the euro boys back then Sturm etc, they wanted no part of him and swerved him blatantly. The best middleweight of the last 10 yrs

Who did Hopkins face at 160 that was elite, i'm not on about welters moving up, a true middleweight elite, who was it??? Tbf I expect you to name 1 minimum as it seems you need more than 1 to some
