Larry Holmes vs Ezzard Charles

Holmes all day .. Holmes too big and skilled. Louis was pretty much on his way out, hadn't fought in over 2 years and retired a year later

Very competitive fight.

I'd go with Holmes but I think it would be very close with Charles definitively having his moments.

 

Charles would make Larry look bad , but doesn't have the power to really hurt him, Larry by UD

 

Too big, with too much range on his jab.I know Charles fought big guys,but none of them had Larry's skills.Larry might stop Charles late but I'm going for a clear decision win.An old Louis marked up Ezz with his jab,Holmes would be pumping it into his face all night

 

The very top echelon here. Agree that Holmes size.. reach and how he uses it makes all the difference. Charles may exhibit more well rounded skills but Holmes is a superb ring general and of course the jab will make a huge difference. Holmes will dictate the fight against the smaller Charles with the jab and Charles won't find an answer for it. Holmes may stop him late. Anyway you look at it it's a Holmes victory.

 

Charles is the better fighter but Holmes is the better heavyweight. I'd take him by decision.

I'd agree. Holmes by decision.

 

You guys do realize that the size gap between Joshua and Holmes is equal to or greater than the size gap between Holmes and Charles and Joshua has never struggled with someone as small as Holmes as a pro even once. But that doesn't stop many arguing Holmes could compete today.

 

Because it is not just size but size and skill

I like Larry to take over after a few rounds .. likely stop him after ten or so ..
