Whyte did not beat the **** out of him, not close, unless you mean the headbutt, which was the most damaging action done to Parker, followed by the wrestling. (I concede that if they had a street fight, Whyte would destroy Parker.) The rematch is close, 50-50, but I'd still favour Parker in a fair fight.
Please do explain that one. Struggling to put away someone who he should have clinically gotten rid of, like all of his previous opponents (but Wlad) considering how little his opponent had to offer, is not struggling with the height of the fighter? What are you talking about? Perhaps the problem is that you're basing everything on record, I'm sure you can decide by watching the fights yourself, you don't seem stupid. I'd have to disagree obviously and based on what I have seen, the other 6 are better than him now. Pre-drugs saga Povetkin isn't the same Povetkin as the post/current version in my opinion. Maybe you think he is? You would be making a good point, if I had mentioned any of that. But I didn't, I only compared the struggle with Takam's height as what might pose a problem for him with Povetkin, never mentioned anything else being similar at all. So you actually agree with me? Would beat Fury and 50/50 with Wilder is laughable. But you're entitled to your opinion. Obviously as previously stated, I believe you overrate him. Based on the responses I'm seeing, I'd certainly have to agree
Sure he isn't prime but he took a flush shot off Price and didn't go down, put off balance cause physics but wasn't rattled at all.. This means AJ may have another 12 rounder on his hands and Povetkin has enough pop to put anyone asleep.. He is still a capable and dangerous fighter who I hope wins..
I understand why you'd think some people want to criticise any Joshua opponent, but I gave Parker a 40/60 chance against him and also couldn't see AJ beating Wlad at all so it definitely isn't me. Got to say I can't see anything but an AJ win and comfortably so too. I'm not saying AJ will look great or anything, but I am saying that I don't think there'll be a point during the fight where the result of an AJ win will become doubtful.
Povetkin has tools Joshua doesn't like...that's about the only thing that gives povetkin a chance in this fight. Always said they,be been getting their tactics wrong against Joshua...they,be been backing off waiting for him to tyre or catching him with a counter. They end up taking a beating. Tbf most are forced on the backfoot but a lot have turned up with that game plan. To tyre him you have to fight him. You need to go forward and try get him on the backfoot out of his comfort zone. He backs out too slow. His footworks pretty quick for a guy his size...but its slow going backwards. He's like a truck going backwards coming out an exchange. Or at least it was anyway. These things give povetkin a chance. Good puncher. Good hooker. Always tries to go forward. Knows how to box well. Pretty good workrate. Has pretty much the same blueprint whyte used against Joshua. Whyte back then wasn't all that great but he still caused Joshua big problems with the same sort of tools/tactics povetkin has. Had him blowing. Had him hurt etc. It never was about being the best to beat Joshua...the right tools will cause him more problems. Tbf to Joshua he's been developing for longetivity the last few fights. Joshua the heavy favorite but povetkin,s being overrated cause he has tools that could cause Joshua big problems.
Rudenko would have one of the best chins in boxing, Lucas Browne couldn't stop him landing big rights which put everyone to sleep.. Yes he is crap otherwise but he doesn't go down.. Really if you think Povetkin has no power you are beyond unknowledgeable and really should ban yourself from the forum...
Povetkin, at 38 years old and presumably(?) not pissing hot for a change, is nothing more than cannon fodder. He isn't a top-five HW at this point, although he's definitely still top 10. At any rate, that this fight replaced AJ/Wilder is a disgrace. Simple as that.
I have never been all that big on Povetkin. I expect AJ to win by wide UD using Wlad's tactics cause why not? If the upset happens, I'll be suitably impressed.
The Meldonium test came in at ten times under the acceptable limit. Wilder has no excuse, end of story.
Whyte would destroy Joshua and Wilder on the street too, Haye rates him on the cobbles as the hardest boxer out the ring. Parker imo could've won that fight I agree, Whyte just wanted it more
