If Deontay clearly beats Fury his resume instantly becomes clearly better than AJs

So Joe Frazier shouldn't get credit for beating an inactive Vietnam dodging Muhammad Ali?

To reiterate what others have already said, AJs record is head and shoulders above Wilders.

Ortiz is okay maybe like top 10.

Tyson Fury WAS formidable, today we have no clue, maybe a shadow of his former self, he mentally (and physically) left boxing.

AJ Dominates his opponents, he has three belts. And has the mentality to stay at the top of the hill, not get a belt than get bored and leave.

Wilder has my respect as a serious threat, but how can I be impressed with his padded record beyond ortiz?

My list is very close to that, but if Fury looks good on the eye test, it would be VERY close. Very slight edge to AJ and only because AJs 3 and 4 are a clear step ahead of Wilders 3 and 4.

I guess it would depend how people are viewing Fury.
I dont think there are many that view D Williams beating Tyson as a greater win than Holyfields or rate B Douglas resume as greater than Holyfield for beating an undefeated Tyson.
I think it will come down to how people choose to view it.
I guess you view it that way and I think others may go the other way.

I think it would be a good win in what should be a more winnable fight for Wilder than it was a few years back but favour Fury to win. It would be a good win and get Wilder a more even type standing with Joshua.
I dont rate the Ortiz win as better than the Parker win but would rate a Fury win, but I dont think it will happen. When Fury was champ he climbed into the ring to put a challenge to Wilder and Wilder seemed more interested in the Povetkin fight he had lined up which was also a tough fight

Fury is ranked inside the top 15 of only one organization. So no, beating the current version of Fury doesn't do much for Deontay's resume. He has better wins in Ortiz and Stiverne I.

 

Thats an excellent example. People rave about fraziers win all the time but it wasnt that different from the fury wilder situation. Both ali and fury were coming off 2-3 years off with little sparring or even training and then fought 2 "ok" guys then challenge a reigning champ.

If fury looks good in his next fight and then wilder beats him all credit is due.

So fury is washed up at 30 with no defeats but 41 year old wladmir coming off a loss is the best version of wladmir?

Interesting that the one organisation that decided to return Fury to the rankings after he beat the second best cruiserweight in Albania is the same organisation that seems to repeatedly make odd decisions which are favourable to Haymon fighters.

Different scenario's. Ali beat Quarry and Bonavena before facing Frazier, not Seferi and Pianeta lol.

Both Quarry and Bonavena had fought Frazier before facing Ali and Ali beat them both faster than Frazier. It would be like Fury now coming back and beating Ortiz and Parker faster than Wilder and AJ and then facing Wilder or AJ.

Suffice to say Ali had proven he was still a top contender after his forced inactivity unlike Fury.
