What numbers would Fury Wilder get?

Wilder needs to go to the UK and promote his ass off along with Fury. Fury can bring it but, Wilder WILL HAVE TO TRAVEL and promote this fight even if he has to come out of his own pocket. Fury can also come to the states and sling some verbal caca also but this is Wilder's chance to become a salesman worldwide.
If he blows this listening to Al Haymon who has 2 pictures up on the internet from 10 years ago Wilder is gonna be the richest ,undefeated, nobody heavyweight champion EVER!!!
Even "The Quiet Man" Ruiz gets the nod from the casual.

 

I'm with you and voted 300-500k in buys. Wilder's profile isn't all that big and there isn't a ton of media in LV. The fighters will need to give the media reason to head to Vegas for fight week. Fortunately, I think Fury's mouth and the records indicating a KO one way or the other does that.

1.2 million watched Wilder's last fight on Showtime. Fury adds plenty of intrigue. It doesn't crack 500k, but is probably in the 350-400k range.

I think the fight would do a bigger number if based in the media capital of NYC.

Rocnation was the worst promoter I've ever seen. Ward/Kovalev wasn't promoted in LA, the home of tons of boxing fans who head out the Vegas. It wasn't promoted on ESPN much, the fighters didn't do a lot of media interviews, etc. I blame that flop mostly on the shoulders of Rocnation although the lack of popping personalities in the fighters didn't help.

 

300 - 500k seems about right. Anything over 250k is a home run

This is Wilder's first PPV test and only US hardcores know Fury

It's a PPV in the UK too and will probably be blockbuster there

I just hope this fight actually happens

 

As soon as I saw the title of the thread, the number that jumped straight to mind was 300k US ppv buys - that would be the minimum acceptable figure in my view, with good promotion taking it a bit higher and the contrary for a poor effort. This is taking into account the fact that Fury will bring a lot of attention too - Wilder vs someone like Miller would not do more than 100k.

However, I'd be very surprised if it broke 500k. In the US boxing industry word is that Wilder - Joshua for all the belts does 400k-500k US ppv without massive promotion. Despite some recent statements, Fury is still the smaller fight because:
a) the Joshua fight could have been billed as for the undisputed title; it would really be a fight for #1 in the division;
b) Fury has been inactive for a while;
c) you can show Joshua's KOs to promote the fight whereas Fury is not a huge puncher.

So I guess 300k - 400k. It's far from impossible to be 100k or so above or below that range, depending on promotion.

 

This is a hard one,
With both being great characters they could promote it really well, like may v MCG, and drum up interest.
But imo it will undersell what they expect as there something lacking at this time, fury being out for a while and wilder not quite the real champ like their trying to portray.
I think the fans will sense this n not buy into it so much like say a Tyson holifield or Ali Frazier.
I see it doing better than ward kov, but not as good as golovkin canelo.
200 to 250 ppv buys in las Vegas is my guess.

Building a boxer into a PPV star is usually a long term game, with a lot of money chucked at their promotion over a long time.

 

I think it can get to 300k, maybe even 350k, but I can't see it getting to 500. Hope it does for both their sakes, however.

 

It will break 500K combined US/UK if it’s PPV in the UK. For the U.S., I’d guess somewhere around 300K-ish.

If they do this, Wilder and Fury will do a whirlwind tour of promotional appearances — NY, Vegas, LA, maybe Chicago and Atlanta, as well as a stop or two in the UK (London, maybe Belfast, possibly Manchester?) and then both will do a ton of social media going back and forth to keep it hyped. Big push at the end when both arrive in Vegas.

With these two talking, a la Connor McGregor, it will generate some media interest.

 

Showrtme should air it on a free weekend ro build up a bigger fight versus Joshua next year.

 

Tyson Fury struggled to sell out even the MEN arena for the Wlad rematch before pulling out with s "injury" and going on the **** at the Euros. Even since Tyson's friegh injury and drug abuse which has seen his popularity increase since being away from boxing, they're still struggling to sell out Windsor park.

Wilder's not house hold name in America, probably a greater percentage of people in the UK have heard of him.

This wont do anywhere near AJ numbers or prime Haye.
