His loss today does not change the previous facts.

GGG is way more skilled than Kovalev (even not debatable)
GGG has way better stamina than Kovalev
GGG has way better chin than Kovalev
GGG has better resume than Kovalev (who wasn't tested against a good boxer and Kovalev should have destroyed Ward as GGG did with Brook)

    End of the story.

Kovalev is an enemy to himself, his flaws are discipline, weak mental strength when faces difficulties and unfortunately weak chin.

This. Kovalev got knocked down three times and needed help to stand. He was completely done.

overrated in that he was never as good as people thought he was . He was always too open to punches, and relied too much on his power. Once Ward exposed his stamina issues, guys had more hope to hang in there and land and this guy who looks good and fast and is undefeated stopped him. Kovalev is not Hall of Fame material obviously but now we have to see how good Alvarez is. Maybe he will be the next great champion. He is undefeated and he did have some good wins.

tell me you made this up. It sounds ridiculous but this is exactly the kind of think Kovalev would say.. The son of judges thing got very old.. Especially after the second fight.

I can't bury the guy. 35 is still old in boxing. I thought he won Ward I, but even with that official loss, he didn't lose until he was 33 and was 9-0 in title fights going into it.

That's really a damn good career by any standard. Seems pretty harsh to shovel some more dirt on him now.

Ward or something else broke Kovalev psychologically in the rematch. He has problems with discipline and that's where one the major problems with Kovalev is, besides his weak chin.

I think that's in reference to the second Ward fight (look at post date). I don't think anyone thinks this fight just now was an early stoppage, following 3 serious knockdowns when Krusher looked like he was done following the first knockdown.

Stubbornness is a double edged sword. That kind of self reliance took him far, but it also made him pretty much uncoachable. You need a team you can trust. I don't think Kovalev ever really had that in the pros, and part of that is on him for not buying in to his trainers. Easy to do when you're knocking everyone out anyways.

JDJ turning on him in the leadup to Ward II probably just reinforced that lol
