This is a very lame tactic to save face. And there's no reason for it, because Ward has a good resume anyway with or without Kovalev.

It'd be like me claiming Linares is done if he gets beaten in his next fight against someone he shouldn't on paper. Hey, if he looks worse I'll call it. If not then it is what it is, perhaps he just wasn't that good.

Kovalev looked same as the Ward 2 fight, he just faced a very fast guy who could take his shots and got befuddled.
