What are some fights that you can think of where a fighter was actually intimidated or visibly scared of the opponent that they were gonna face but ends up knocking out that opponent in the process?
Foreman once said that he was actually afraid of Frazier going into the fight and was hoping that Frazier wouldn’t look down and see his knees shaking. I find that really interesting, knowing how easily Foreman demolished Frazier.

Tony sibson said when he was afraid of an opponent he had that electric feeling in his stomach and he normally fought and won when this happened. When he didn't he would sometimes have harder fights or lose. I think most of us can relate to this I know I can

Lennox Lewis looked a little scared in the first round against Tyson.

Regardind Foreman, I remember that in the movie Champions Forever (1988) he also said he did not want to face Ken Norton, whom he considered the most physically gifted man he had ever seen.

Ali was confident in himself but he admitted later that he feared Liston.

I agree that Foreman has had a thing for talking up the guys he's destroyed, for whatever reason...I'm sure that they believe it and appreciate it no end:naughty2::sisi1:sisi1...but he says nothing nice at all about Jimmy Young, whom I'm convinced that GF still despises.

Foreman said facing Joe Frazier that he did the Liston stare down thing, and knew if his opponent looked down he knew he had a psychological advantage. But in the ring center against Frazier he didn't want Joe to look down because his knees were shaking.

What did Foreman say about Young? The only thing I ever heard him talk about was his religious experience in the dressing room after.

    Dempsey vs. Willard

When Dempsey was face to face with Willard before the opening bell, he realized he was going to have to fight for his life.

Concur. Foreman knew pre-fight he had been trained and marketed perfectly to be competitive or beat that version of Frazier. Foreman knew he had the size and firepower to stand in with Joe. Even at the mid-ring Instructions, it's Foreman that is looking straight down on Joe.
