I just rewatched the Alvarez/Kovalev fight. Am I the only one that noticed how calm cool and collected Alvarez was once he got Kovalev hurt? This is a very dangerous sign to opponents. You have a guy in his biggest pro fight, get his opponent, who is the champ of the division, hurt badly and he took his time and completely finished his opponent with demeanor of an assassin. This was beautiful to watch! I hate to see guys just start flailing punches like a mad man when they get a guy hurt and if they don't get the stoppage they are spent for the next few rounds. Very nice, clean finish for Alvarez.

He was composed throughout the fight. He took some hard punches, especially in the 4th round, but never lost heart or form, or deviated from the game plan of punching with Kovalev and finding opportunities to pick his spots when possible. No surprise that he was able to remain cool and calm after dropping Kovelev the first time in the seventh.

You're right! Kov never realky got him out of his comfort zone. Even though, I feel, Kov was ahead and pulling away.

What was he supposed to do, jump up throw his hands in the air, stick his tongue out and run around in a circle? That's how most rational logical people should react when their opponent is hurt, Gvozdyk, Crawford, Spence, Golovkin, Lomachenko and yes Kovalev all do the same thing.

Come on, stop being obtuse! You know exactly what I'm talking about. You gonna tell me you never seen a fighter in the biggest moment of his career get his opponent hurt and just start throwing like a mad man? And you're right Kov does it too, that's what makes him a G such great finishers. That's why I said it's a danger sign for future opponents. If he gets you hurt, chances are he will finish you.

Sure I have, but those guys are **** fighters with poor ring IQ, this was nothing shocking with Eleider, I've seen his last 12 or so matches, he never loses his ****, he's a solid, composed and very skilled guy. Maybe that's why I'm not blown away by it as much as many of you seem to be. I am blown away by his sudden violent KO power though. Sure he had his knuckles fixed, but come on, I doubt it would help that much.

He was slinging that shot hard for a few rounds before it connected. I just think you put too much faith in Kov's chin.

He hurt Pascal in their fight, so it's not surprising that he could hurt Kovalev by punching him near his ear. You don't need big power to **** someones equilibrium up when you land in that area.

if you watched his last 12 fights you wouldnt be that surprised with the knockout. he doesnt have a high percentage but his knockouts were always legit knockouts. not amir khan out boxing you too easy knockouts
