Andre Ward greatest win is the complete subjugation of all his opposition since his childhood...The wise thing is to not take sides against him, opposing Ward in anything is the surest way to lose... Very powerful man, inside & outside the ring...Be glad that he is stuck in boxing, a guy like Andre Ward in the darker sides of life would cause so much agony to the helpless loud-mouthed peasants...
As both a massive fan of Carl Froch and Sergey Kovalev, as in they're in my Top 10 of the last two decades. I think my opinion should count for something. Froch had wins over: Bute, Kessler, Abraham, Taylor, Dirrell, Groves, Groves, Johnson, Reid Kovalev had wins over: Ward, Hopkins, Pascal, Pascal, Chilemba, Cleverly, Mohammedi, Campillo, Shabranskyy, Mikhalkin When you take into consideration Froch lost to Kessler, at best drew with Dirrell, needed a Hail Mary KO to bail him out against Taylor and Groves. Kovalev beat everyone he'd ever faced in dominant fashion, and beat Ward, who needed literally every advantage in the book to beat him in the rematch, including cheating to win. Kovalev it is.
kovie, he was a bona fide unified elite champ, and would likely have been undisputed if not for chickenson and beefybiev. kovie also you can argue at least drew with probable ATG ward. carl was merely an elite champ, not sure he was proper unified that wba belt might have been the "reg" one but correct me if i am wrong. carl was always outclassed by ward (unless your name is failey and then carl nearly won and took several rounds with ease lol). In migitation, kovie was unified after catching hopkins at his worst, just at the right time, when he happened to have the belts but was clearly ebbing fast against him and Smith... literallly the first time you'd have seen hopkins looking like he was getting smashed up and helpless.
Iceferg makes a good point. It's arguable that Kessler is wards best win. Kessler wasn't on a controversial run of decisions like froch and beat undefeated froch a couple of fights before ward fought him. Kessler was wba champ at the time having beaten world champs for titles. Froch only had the title Kessler vacated and kessler had a greater smw resume.
i see, odbod, you think he was worse as a pro at what the age thn 49/50? i love to hear your opinion, u r a pal.
Of course he was, Hopkins had a style that he crafted that lent to longevity on the sport.....Hopkins was still potent and P4P top 3 even at 44 years old....however, at 49 I think it's a bit far fetched to say that he was as good as his late 30's and even early 40's.
nevermind irrelevant opinions on other matters, but i thank you for confirming what i wrote about when he was 49/50.
