Kessler was a world champ who had beaten a world champ to get a title.
Froch had Kesslers vacated title won off a fighter coming off a loss

Froch is credited for beating Bute after the ward loss
Kessler beat Froch after the Ward loss

Froch was on a run in title fights of 5-1
Kessler was on a run of 8-1 in title fights

Froch had never beaten a champion for a title
Kessler had beaten 3 champs for a title

Kessler had only lost to Calzaghe
Froch had lost to Kessler

Froch was coming off some debatable decisions
Kessler was coming off some clear wins

Carl Froch is going to be a HOF fighter and I rate him higher than Kovalev so yes. Kovalev is a good win arguably his second best and he was a good champ and the real deal.

 

Kessler win was better because Kessler is a better fighter than Froch.

Fair post! You make a good case for Kessler being his best win.

 

I would rate the wins as

1st Kessler
2nd Kovalev
3rd Froch

After that I think it can be debatable. Maybe Bika?

 

Kovalev is good fighter and was a dominant fighter and champion at 175 pounds. He lost to Andre Ward twice but then again Ward is an all time great and everybody lost to Ward he is that good. Froch was a very good win but not Ward’s best win. Froch is popular in the UK especially for his reckless macho style however those who understand boxing realized that Ward is better than Froch in every single facet of the game including the intangibles such as heart, will, desire and mental toughness. These are things Froch trades on but against Ward he met someone better technically as well as in these attributes. If anything Ward should have stopped Froch but for his broken hand. Froch is not the best fighter Ward has faced.

He fought a very high level of competition and beat them. One of his best wins at the time was against Edison Miranda at the time. Great great fighter and even better man. Always gave his opponents credit even Froch and Kovalev something both of them are incapable of. Froch still goes around slagging off Calzaghe when everybody knows both of them at their prime Calzaghe would beat him.
