That’s just it,Parker and Whyte and Chisora v Takam were two recent examples of 50/50 fights.
All Miller does is 90/10 type fights,80/20 would be being generous.

Yep, their all old as f#$k and past it. Wilder and Joshua waited years for them to age.

Yep. You realise Adamek beat up Arreola who KOed Molina in the first round right? Whats your point?

Yeah I thought he was going to be stepping up in class. Granted he's been calling for the AJ fight but he's fighting trash like Duhaupas and Washington, old shot Poles, and now it looks like he's facing an even older and even more shot Pole next time out. He's a good talker, though, and I do find him quite entertaining and likeable.

As a bloke he seems like a good guy but compared to the rest ie Parker,Whyte ect he never takes any risks and re AJ of course he’d love that.

I think he definitely wants AJ and he did roll up on him at that press conference the other week. AJ wanted to go right then and there but that wouldn't have been wise, because Miller is a former kickboxer and if he kicked him with those elephant sized legs of his he would've broken AJ in two lol

Indeed. Can we agree that they haven't started yet?

We don't know yet, so AS ABOVE, this is premature. As you say the traditional big 4 sports are out of reach. However allow me to speculate. I think they'll go big on online soccer rights as and when they become available and I think, long term, this will be the real driving force. I also think via a combination of MLS, changing demographic and increasing globalisation that they are calculating these will be a significant driver.

The biggest names in US boxing are currently under contract, naturally enough. When their rights next become available there will be a new buyer in the marketplace. Those that are free will also be watching at this point. It seems clear that current key players have been seeking to warn them off signing with a mixture of carrot and stick. Again, those with the best options can afford to hang back.

Headline grabbing spectactulars are great for driving acquisitions. Solid, week to week, month to month content is great at keeping them and driving organic growth via word of mouth and social recommendations. You can see this reflected in the card structure Hearn outlined. His 'monster' fights will represent quarterly high profile cards followed by what we in the uk would term the 'bread and butter' regular offering.

A good launch will be a key objective. But they cannot afford to devote too much of their budget to it because they will start with a very small subscriber base. They will also, inevitably, have digital infrastructure issues to contend with as they're a start up.

So my own expectations would be much in line with what's been outlined so far. I've outlined in my previous post what I consider a balanced assessment of what they offer. I think enough for highly engaged US boxing fans to give them a try for a free month. As they build expect more headline grabbing one off deals with recognised names in one off fights.

tldr? it's too damn early to write them off.

    The Yanks pronounce it "Hearnz".

The same way they pronounce Billy Joe Saunders - Billy Joe "Sanders"

Slight variations in "American" and "British" English. See Eubank Snr for further clarification.

    Nonsense.

Wilders tried fighting Povetkin twice and Joshua has only been at this level for a couple of years.

    Thanks for your reasoned discussion.

We can only react to and make assessments on what is known and what is announced.

Eddie placed high expectations on Days Inn/Matchroom USA by saying he was going to announce 8 big signings in June, then July, now ... not eight signings. He openly courted Mikey and the Charlos and Broner, and floated other names ... now, a few very low-profile USA boxers on the roster.

Eddie threw out the hyperbole of changing boxing forever, billion-dollar “I’m going after the best fighters and the best fights” etc.

You’re giving away a free month (you say, I’m not sure I’ve seen that but it’s standard practice in the streaming business so I agree they’d be stupid not to offer this) and to get that buzz you need a strong offering from the start to get people hooked from the beginning and get that word-of-mouth of which you speak. Yes, numbers will be low at first ... but if you want it to grow you have to get peoples’ attention with what in America would be called “Must-See TV” (that’s an expression, I realize this isn’t television).

I really don’t think Eddie understands the USA market. His first promotion over here was a disappointment and now he’s showing nothing that changes my mind about it — Miller vs. Adamek underscores that this service is something you don’t need.

You set a tone with the first show. If that tone is “forget this, I can get better on ESPN and Showtime and Fox without adding yet another monthly fee to my bill,” you’ve started a narrative that’s going to be difficult to change down the road.

The market is being over saturated with streaming services — ESPN and Netflix and Amazon and CBS and WWE and others are chasing the same dollars. You pretty much have to be willing to lose money from the get-go in order to make it later ... splurge and put on a few cards with some real stars that say “You absolutely MUST have this service” or be prepared to get left behind.

Maybe you’re right. Maybe a slow build with low expectations is a brilliant business strategy, but I don’t see it.

You mean Wilder bitched out from Povetkin twice and now has to pay him millions for it for running and false accusations, not to mention duck every contender in the division except a 39 year old Ortiz. Joshua gets a pass, Povetkin is mandatory. But yeah, you cant run down Miller fighting Adamek while talking up a so called champion fixing a fight with a 39 year old Stiverne, clowns.

    :lol::facepalm:
Adamek barely beat Arreola back in 2010.
The point is that Adamek is so far gone that he got KO'd by a much lesser fighter.

Yes, a fighter he was clearly dominating for 10 rounds before being caught with a good, yet lucky shot. Doesnt mean Rahman was better than Lewis, nor Molina better than Adamek, its heavyweight boxing, it happens. Adamek is getting on, but so is Ortiz, Povetkin, Stiverne, Browne etc.. you cant criticise Miller for fighting one but not the other champions/contenders for others. Didnt Ortiz just fight Cojanu? Fury about to fight Pianeta? Wilder Stiverne and Ortiz in his last 2? Whyte vs Browne a couple months ago? Joshua vs Povetkin next? I rest my case.
