Wot? 'Ave u failed again, mayte? Ave Caesar, and all that. Herol discovered a new word, prattle. It's halfway between "prat", which is what everybody calls him, and "rattle" which is the sound his head makes. Kudos, Herol. You surprised me! To be, or not to be, that is the question!
While it is true that Toney was a more complete fighter at super middle, I would still pick him to win a decision over GGG in a good competitive fight. If he is at his best, Toney is a very hard guy beat. He has top notch victories from middleweight to heavyweight . However, Toney was not always at his best, and haters like to use that version of Toney but that it is not persuasive at all given that the best versions should be matched.
Again, GGG has proven to be elite and active pressure fighter who makes his opponents fight 3 minutes a round. That is precisely what James does not like to do. He prefers to stall, negative fight and engage for the last 30 seconds. I can see him landing the occasional sharp counter, maybe even stunning GGG. But I see GGG landing the majority of the hard shots. For all of James' defensive genius, he didn't get that face from never getting hit. A messy decision victory for GGG wherein the punch stats favor Gennady and the Toney faithful cry robbery. What else is new?
I agree that the styles favour Golovkin. My concern would be, who has Golovkin executed these tactics against that is particularly impressive? While Toney is capable of countering a good heavyweight to a standstill or to near equal terms, who has Golovkin pressured out of a fight that particularly impresses you? More, who has countered him with top-line countershots and how does he respond to these? This content is protected Imagine what Toney is feeding Golovkin behind this? So styles match-up is dot one for Golovkin but I know how Toney handles pressure fighters who are in some way superior to him because I've seen it; at his worst he would get scoffed up for lunch by Golovkin, but at his best? I'll take Toney because I seen what he can do against elite opposition when on form. In the end, a vote for GGG is a guess, albeit not a bad one.
Actually, an active pressure fighter is exactly what Toney likes. You may be familiar with GGG but you seem to know very little about Toney. Please check the punch stats of Toney's fights with Mc Callum, Nunn, Reggie Johnson . In fact, Toney was a very busy fighter when he was at his best.
It was as close to one sided as it could have been with the loser throwing near 90 punches a round. It was a war but a war Toney clearly won. Ledermen was way too generous to Jirov.
Ouchie! All I do is copy the image. So i can't do it on the one you linked, but if i google, for example "Muhammad Ali GIF", then "Images" then right click on the one I want and then right click here and hit "paste": This content is protected I get that.
They certainly ran them close, I had Lara winning in fact and the trout fight could've easily been a draw. Toney by comfortable decision here. This is a peak Toney, not the inconsistent one. Not sure why this is so hard to grasp, but people keep bringing up inconsistent out of shape Toney. A peak Toney make GGG pay for his aggression, and when GGG backs off that work rate because of stinging counters... Toney's job just got a lot easier. Toney by clear UD
Damn I'm sitting on a bloody library of boxing gifs, which apparently I can only link. Thanks anyway homie.
