I'm not endorsing this fight, and I typically don't pay attention to boxing's outside-the-ring drama/gossip/trash-talk/press conference brawls/TMZ kind of stuff either, so I didn't really know about the rest of that - but I'm just saying there is a groundwork in place there for the organizers to justify this event in the face of (very warranted) criticism.
I dont want to say what could potentially happen if adamek gets in the ring with miller, im quite serious, miller might not be brilliantly skilled but hes a brute, in his prime, strong as an ox, tough, and adamek is completely past it and small. i dont want to see goral brutally beaten, at 41 he doesnt deserve it, he should know his own limits hes just had enough to beat old men himself lately, old men that were never any good! im not having a go at you IB, i got big concerns if this fight goes on.
I'm right there with you, dude, I wouldn't even want to see Adamek get in with a Carlos Takam at this point to be honest. That would be horrifying - and Miller poses every single problem Takam does, like tenfold. I've seen worse fights passed off successfully as fair play, though, so I wouldn't expect an outpouring of sentimentality from fans concerned for Adamek's well-being to do anything but fall on deaf ears of all parties involved (including those of the obviously self-deluded Adamek and the obviously parasitic people on his team letting him go through with this)
Hopefully it ends with some early dissatisfying anticlimax (like Adamek rolling his ankle while answering the first bell, resulting in a NC) so that Miller can move on to real tests while Adamek does something more "in his lane", such as taking up Milkdud on that very intriguing call-out.
I'm certainly not defending this fight, I think it's really poor. Obvisouly Miller wants to be paid, he wants to stay active so he needs/wants to fight and DAZN have dates to fill. But realistically who should/could have Miller fought? Considering AJ, Povetkin, Wilder, Fury, Breazeale (Still being talked about for Wilder), Kowanack, Charles Martin, Dimitrenko, Bryant Jennings are all fighting. Parker, Whyte, Chisora, Takam, Ortiz all just fought. Hammer hasn't fought since December 2017, so would any opponent been that much better?
Adamek's only real hope is that Miller comes in around 23-24 stone and can't even lift his flabby arms up to properly snap a jab.
That's kind of what I think, here. Awful match-up for everybody involved, but the state of things might be such that, for Miller at least, this is as good as could be made for right now.
