ANNNDDDD, full power non cortisone hands non shot in the arm and shoulder 1974, Monzon stops Marvin Hagler before 15 rds are over. In 1972, Katz described Monzon as both an immovable object & as an overwhelming force. This he was. No welterweight retired for 5 years is even going 10 rds with King Carlos Monzon

Thx man. Can you imagine you are in the middle of a good old riot and you look up and on the other side you ser Monzon & Galindez knocking guys OUT.! :) Galindez was a huge fan of the Boca soccer club. You know, both of them together, Monzon & Galindez are so interesting to me. I don't know why. It's like legends of the spartans at 300 or Tecumseh or Crazy Horse. Just very interesting and mysterious to me.
I can watch their fight all day. And neither was exciting in the way Duran or Cuevas was, yet you could fell deep down, like Roberto, that you were watching a man afraid of nothing or anything. And you kind of project that vicariously onto your own life.

I'm intrigued as hell about those two together too....and maybe you can locate this series of pictures that are out there in cyberspace somewhere...it's Monzon and Galindez wandering around in Paris...the camera man was probably pissing the two of them off by following them around taking pictures. One is of the two of them glaring at the photog...both wearing sunglasses and both looking extremely pissed off and dangerous. Can't figure out which one of them looks the most thuggish...the most evil....really two badasses if I've ever seen one .

I have the one in my house where Victor is holding a necklace and Carlos is right next to him. It was in Paris or Monte Carlo when they wend to cheer on their compatriot Cuerto in his losing title defense.

Yet Monzon was the complete opposite in the ring, completely calm and unruffled. It was as if he was at his most relaxed and satisfied in there.

Yeah, seems like he was a terrible human being. Helluva fighter though.

Monzon always had that assassins cool/icy persona in the ring like a 70's Freddie Steele....Great video of how subtle he was Hanzagod makes some great videos that always captures the essence of the fighter plus he pairs them with great music

I understand all that, but the point this stands, it's not all that impressive to lean back from your foe when you're already almost out of range anyways. It's effective, but not overly impressive, which is the point I've made the entire time.

not as interesting as "Monzon stops Hagler" - two pages down, which is totally insane. if anyone is going to do the stopping its hagler. Look at the Briscoe fight; Bennie almost tore Monzon's head off at the neck. I saw it

but Bennie was too slow. Had that been Hagler, he'd have finished him right then and there

whatever you do, dont fall into the "Monzon was a cool customer whose pulse never varied " like some Hanibal Lector. those kind of people deal in fantasy and most likely, this is the real scenario that would be played out

Wow. Analysis by video game. We've truly hit a high-water mark on this board.
