A stationary low movement opponent such as Joshua would be target practice for 85 or any version of Holmes

And Holmes was still good enough to beat Williams a Short time before Spinks and The Truth was far from stationary .Spinks style was the thing that threw Larry more than anything IMO ,he'd probably struggle with him at any point. Joshua s got youth and strength on his side but Holmes still has the jab ,great chin and experience .So yep ,not a easy simple win for AJ .

Holmes at that time was running out of gas. AJ is in with a real chance of beating him, I'd say.

AJ`s legs were completely gone Wlad followed up with six hooks that would have finished it but Josh blocked all of them, that`s what made the fight epic, I thought it was all over.

Wlad would have beaten Holmes easily when if they were both 41 or both 35, no comparison and he probably would have beaten Spinks if he fought him when he was 35 if he had been in the ring in `85 instead of Holmes his body had far more vim than Larry`s did 35 and on wards.

McCall was nowhere near AJ`s level, Holy primed at heavy when he put the weight on for the second Bowe fight, Larry was awful vs Holy.

Sometimes when I see thread titles like this - and it's a totally legit thread idea in which the premise was explained by the OP - I think to myself, "Could Joshua have taken the title from Holmes in 85? Nope. He wasn't born yet." :)

then it wasnt thrown with enough confidence given hes 250lb man, or AJ was doing enough to keep it tame.
