Really puts a dent into Ward's resume IMO. If the judges weren't corrupt there would have never been a rematch. Ultimately, Ward only made it a close fight because Kovalev got tired. A Kovalev with any stamina would have won that fight 12-0.
No he didn’t. Ward won a close hard fought fight and then proved in the rematch who the better fighter was.
No he didn’t. Kov was limited to a jab for the majority of the fight and ended up being outlander in jabs. He rarely went to the body and his right maybe landed a few more times after the KD.
It is really something to see some people rationalize Ward winning the first fight simply because the judges told them it was so, at 114-113 across the board. It just reaffirmed their biases.
The same idiots who agree with the draw the judges awarded Clenelo with against GGG. “B.. But it’s in da books as a draw doe!”
Thank God for YouTube and polls People can always see for themselves who really won the fight. **** POS judges like Byrd
And what the hell is a Byrd judging fights for in the first place? Talk about an obvious anomaly. There is a reason and it isn't due to her judging skills. Judges like Byrd are put in these situations for a reason. They can be counted on.
The rematch is controversial as well though. Hardly ended any doubt. Kovalev clearly won the first and was clearly unfairly stopped in the second fight which was closer.
it was very close. YOu could score it either way. If you prefer aggression like me, you'd give the nod for a hair to Kovie. Personally I cannot wangle it as anything more than a draw for Ward, but the 2nd fight puts that to rest. Ward is superior, theres no doubt, Krusher fans like me must simply accept facts. No shame theres always someone who is better than you in the ring.
I had Kov by 2 watching it live and I think by 1 when I rewatched it, I can see the case for a draw but a Ward win would need some "favourable" judging IMO The rematch although not without controversy was only ending one way, in rematches, the boxer almost always does better than the puncher and Ward was on top almost the entire time in the second fight despite the obvious usual dirty tactics from Ward.
