He may not have had the strength or energy to get Ward off if him. Like I said his conditioning for a fighter of his caliber was basically terrible.
Kovalev fans set the record for long term butt hurt feelings. When Jones Jr., Hopkins, De La Hoya, Lewis, etc. lost after a long winning streak, their fans were soiled, but moved on. Some of these Kovalev fans are acting like they have PTSD.
I think youre right. I cant think of a fan base that has been so butt hurt over a loss. I think its that after the first fight they expected their guy to come back and ko Ward totally ignoring the last half of the first fight.
Marquez fans after the first, second and third fight. Remember it hasnt been 2 years since Kovalev Ward. Pacquiao Marquez was 14 years ago.
Ward did lose the first fight, the same way Floyd lost the first JLC fight. But them being the technicians of course they are all ways going to do better in the rematch. Kovalev cruised too much in that first fight and I could see exactly what was going to happen, robbery then Ward would win the rematch. I picked kovalev in fight 1 buy i knew he had no chance in the rematch because Ward had worked him out by the end and Kovalev can't change. But yes, ward should have a loss on his record.
Kovalev himself is acting like he has PTSD so it's fitting. He got what he deserved if he's not going to put the work in. Can't be lazy in this game.

It’s an interesting clash of styles man I thoroughly enjoyed the fist match wayyyyy more than the second. The rematch seem almost inevitable for me I even had Kovalev up one round at the time of the stoppage.
