Rocky Marciano vs Michael Spinks

I suspect that we would see a competitive fight for a while, but Marciano would grind Spinks down and beat him, just like every other technician that he came up against.

 

Spinks would give it a game old try but he's going to be roughed up and run over.

Please to not compare the hype job Matthews to Mike Spinks. Those two are as far apart in terms of quality as you can be. Please.

I pick Marciano in an all out war that goes deep.

 

Michael Spinks is arguably the worst heavyweight champion ever. Literally comparable to Marvin Hart and Primo Carnera. Matthews probably has more of a chin than Spinks, but I still wasn't comparing them, only saying the Marciano Spinks fight would look like the Marciano Matthews fight.

Spinks beat the 7 1/2 year reigning 48-0 Larry Holmes convincingly in fight #1 and I thought he edged Holmes by a point in fight #2. Obliterated Tangsted and Cooney. Lost to an absolute PEAK Tyson, and he’d never beat THAT Tyson period, but his best days were also behind him at that point, his knees were shot, mobility pretty much gone. He wasn’t at Heavyweight long so he’s hard to really rank, but he is by no means the worst HW Champion ever, please... And neither is Carnera..

Spinks will give Rocky fits for awhile. Spinks has his own version of the Walcott waltz and was in fantastic condition, his cardio was through the roof. Rocky will eventually get him though, but late..

Yeah i barely pay attention to the 1 belt paper champions in the multi-belt belt era. Spinks is one of the worst pre 90s champ (better than his brother leon, marvin hart and maybe carnera). Anyways Holmes was past his prime in the fight. Cooney isnt that impressive of a win, he was the tough gatekeeper of that era. Losing round 1 to mike tyson, even in his prime, is embarrassing. He made Spinks look like one of Tyson's many bums in that fight, and he also was terrified of Tyson, so he had no heart.
