Just thinking about one fighter, and one fight in particular...pretty gruesome injury he suffered...but I'll withhold my choice here in order to get your opinions. Your choice might eclipse mine, who knows?

Hasim Rahman's forehead hematoma was so bizarre looking that I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The ultimate are of course the life ending/changing traumatic brain injuries that occur, a fit fighter enters the ring and leaves in a bad way.

I concur with Rope-a-Dope, Rahmans forehead was damned weird to see.

The injuries that Willard sustained against Dempsey were severe, i guess only him being a behemoth allowed him to continue for as long as he did to sustain such injuries.

All you're selections are good, so I'll go ahead and nominate Rocky Marciano's split nose in the Charles rematch....and of course Holyfield's munched on ear vs Tyson 2.

"One of his cheekbones had caved in. His jaw was broken, as was his nose. His ribs were busted. Many of his teeth had been knocked out…"

Longhhorn, I watched this fight in it's entirety....believe it or not, for the first time a while ago...oh of course I've seen that horrible first round countless times, but this was the first time...aided by that maximum screen size afforded by You Tube, that I got a really good look...at the beating Jess took after that first round of carnage...and it was incredible. I had always assumed that those rounds 2 and 3 were spent with mostly exhausted milling, with sloppy, exhausted, imprecise blows landed by Dempsey. I was wrong...again, again, and again Dempsey's fists landed...and I saw even on that ancient film, how Jess's face and head were transformed. Incredible that the big man could come out for those last 2 rounds, and how he could survive and not go down...oh sure, the punches he took were not as deadly as in the 1st, but it seemed just the same that Dempsey just couldn't miss. Incredible punishment. This takes the cake, so to speak.
