The example you provided wasn't comparable in any way.

Hearns was blown out by Hagler and i doubt there was any demand for a rematch , and if there was it wouldn't have been seen as evens given how one-sided it was.

Froch Kesser I could have went either way. The better fighter mostly always overturns a disputed decision with a more dominant performance.

 

Well if u look at some of the best LHWs of the last 25 years or so... Dariusz, Roy, Bhop, Calzaghe, Dawson, Ward, Stevenson, Tarver etc Kovalev at his best would be a handful for any of them & to redeem himself v Alvarez (who has a win over Kova) would be an epic win..

 

Man stfu... I don't buy that theory. Benn did better against Eubank second time round.. Overall I think Eubank is a better fighter though IMO

Kessler was over the hill by then! At there respective best Kessler was a better boxer, more fluid & better technically .. Froch just aged better.

Kessler is Ward's best win, but Froch, Abraham, and yes Kovalev give him a HOF resume.

 

Seeing as Froch's defense was inept at best and considering that Kovalev offensive skills are noticeably superior to his, I don't see scenery where Froch comes out on top.

Froch has a good chin, but I don't think the quality of his chin is what some you guys are making it out to be. Andre Dirrell and Jarmain Taylor dropped him. George Grooves hurt badly almost had him ready to go. Andre Ward who by no mean's a heavy puncher I believe hurt him (Froch was able to conceal it).

I think you're projecting a scenario were Froch is down on the cards and suddenly makes a hail Mary comeback in the later rounds as Kova seems to fade down the stretch. I don't see it that way. Any man that's easy to hit by Kovalev is getting knocked the **** out. I don't care what anyone thinks about Froch's chin (overrated), he's getting blasted the **** out with that poor defense of his by Kovalev. Just because Ward was able to sustain a comeback in their second fight, now all of a sudden everyone thinks it's doable. Froch's chin will not sustain Kovalev's early onslaught to mount a comeback down the stretch.

I think you're neglecting that Kovalev boxed with Ward man to man, and you can make the argument that he was leading on the card when he stopped. Froch is not beating Kovalev on the card. He fought some good punchers but nothing like a guy that hits as hard as Kovalev.

By the way, I favor Alvarez over Froch at 175.
