Odds don't win fights if they did Braddock, Douglas,Ali would never have been champion

Part of the game bro. Esp back then. A ton of fighters have been thumbed and still won. But Moore was not ready for it, and not prepared for that level of competition. Showed the world his lack of experience.

No he wasn't. He'd been boxing since he was a child. That's like saying Loma is a novice because he only has 12 fights.

Then the technician got wasted by the novice, because Moore knocked out Kalule in Moore's 11th fight.

I'm not going there sorry, I can have silly conversations with Rasta Gooly if Im feeling frivolous.
Ten profights is a novice .Lomachenko is a once in a lifetime talent.

You keep lowering the number of fights Moore had with each post.

If Moore was better than Kalule, then beating Moore was a better win.

You can't brag about Kalule being a technician ... and dismiss Moore outright ... if Moore basically dominated and stopped Kalule when they fought ... before Duran stepped in the ring with Moore.

The only person being silly here is you.

Duran beating Moore was a better win than Leonard beating Kalule ... because Moore was better than Kalule.

As was pointed out, Leonard was expected to beat Kalule. Kalule was considered a tuneup for Leonard before the Leonard-Hearns fight. And he was just a tuneup.

Moore was favored to beat Duran because Moore was considered the best junior middleweight champ.

It was a great performance by Duran. Probably his last "great" performance. He ruined Moore. It was about as thorough a beating you could inflict on a man without permanently disabling him or killing him.

NO, he didn't. And you won't talk about the number of fights with other guys but that's ALL you'll talk about with Moore. And you can't even look up his record accurately.

    Good Lord.

Duran beating Moore was a bigger win than Leonard beating Kalule.

Moore was better than Kalule. He proved it in the ring. Moore was favored over Duran.

Duran was heralded for his "accomplishment" because it was an accomplishment.

Frankly, I don't know why you're even arguing the point.

Your argument that Moore was a novice is embarrassing. I would never consider Moore or Fenech or Rigondeaux or Loma or De La Hoya or the dozens of others who won titles early on "novices." If you can beat the best in your division early on, because you had a solid amateur background and you've been fighting your whole life and you've got a world of skills, you aren't a "novice."

I don't think Duran can cut down a world class mover above 147. Age and the extra weight took away too much from his footspeed and engine.
    Leonard wins a UD

The Moore fight was the better performance.
One of the best performances ever by an aging fighter.
one of my favorite virtuoso performances along with toney vs Barkley, Tyson vs tucker/Biggs, Douglas and Holyfield vs Tyson, Duran Dejesus 3, Chavez vs Rosario, RJJ vs toney.

The type of performance where the winner didnt make a single wrong step the entire fight.
The only bitter part about is the late stoppage. That fight should have been stopped earlier.

But what it does do is provide the public perception going into a fight and whom they were putting their money on. And I did not know a single person putting money on that longshot Kalule. Did you actually know somebody that backed him?

that is a matter of opinion. You have to remember Ray Leonard moved up and beat Kalule in June 1981 (I think June 25th) with Hearns on the undercard getting ready for his fight with Hearns in September.

Leonard was expected to beat Kalule because Leonard was mostly considered the best pound for pound fighter in the world whilst Kalule was largely unknown.

Moore was favored to beat Duran because Duran was thought to be washed up.

Moore was considered raw but a reasonable talent with a ton of heart and determination which had been getting him home.

The odds were actually 5-2 for Moore - Duran and 4-1 for Leonard - Kalule.
