It is true this one is slipping under the radar but it's #1 vs #3 in the division in a serious fight.
It is yeah. It doesn’t help that they avoided wilder and now he’s fighting fury. But it’s a genuine world class fight.
It’s a good fight - nothing wrong with it at all and I look forward to it. Infact, I’m thinking of putting a ton on Povetkin to win by KO. Hearn fcuked up the PR by trying to freeze out Wilder, as he was too over confident about their position. They’ve now been made to look like ducking twats by this Fury stuff. If Hearn had the promotional skills to work together with Finkel and the fights where on course for next year, nobody would be giving them any stick for facing Povetkin first.
Why does everyone keep blaming Hearn/AJ for the Wilder fight not happening. As far as I can see, we can only blame Wilder. He was the one who didn't want to negotiate as he refused to talk face to face in either USA or in England. He also has been given a contract now for April and still has not signed it. The only reason the Wlder Fury fight is happening is because Wilder knows he can win so wants this fight. I think AJ is doing the right thing fighting Povetkin and I see AJ winning this MID-late rounds. The problem AJ has is the April fight, as the winner of Wilder/Fury wont fight him as Wilder doesn't want it and Frank Warren wants 50/50 which is ridiculous as he keeps using the linear champion tag which is a joke.
It’s a mandatory so I don’t see why he should get respect for taking on his world champion obligations. It’s a closer fight than people think though, very dangerous for the first few rounds. The reason why is because AJ’s army of casual bum boys don’t know what threat Povetkin brings and all they’ve seen from him is the Price fight.
If your referring to my post, I was more referring to Hearn/AJs PR gaffs rather than the fight not actually happening. I’ve always said, I was happy for it to take place next year if both teams where on board with that plan. We’ve seen this happen with Eddie so many times now in different situations. He gets to over confident that he has all the cards in his favour and actively goes out to belittle people “Shirley Winkle” Etc. Well he and AJ have been made to look like diks with Wilder-Fury seemingly being signed on Monday with minimal fuss between the two camps. Even some AJ bum boys/ casuals are starting to question Hearns versions of events on twitter etc.
Povetkin is more than capable of beating AJ , he is the mandatory challenger and it’s a good fight. Everyone wants Wilder v AJ myself included, I would have liked to see Fury v AJ .
I was just talking in general rather than your specific post however I don't think Hearn has looked stupid because the Fury/Wilder fight was made. The reason this happened so easily is because Wilder wants it. If Wilder wanted AJ then why hasn't he attended any of AJ fights like he is doing with Fury tonight. He was offered to visit Cardiff but refused. All the way through this mess, Wilder has made things awkward but somehow Hearn/Aj are to blame.
I agree with this. AJ is a champion and therefore, there is an obligation. If AJ puts him away then it will be a very impressive stoppage on the resume’. I’m sure McCracken would have studied the fella and will have a game plan for AJ to stop him, which he has to be confident of doing. You know what Povetkin is capable of. He’s going to be moving in, ducking under the jab and trying to throw the overhands and hooks. What AJ has shown is that he is adaptable and there’s an intelligence and patience in the way he fights now. I can see him stopping Pov with a huge uppercut in the second half of the fight.
Can't help but think Hearn & Co must know that Povetkin has slipped considerably. You hear things when you are that involved in boxing. Hearn would have known Haye was shot to pieces for example. They ducked the Wilder fight to go in with Povetkin, who on paper is risky himself, but is a much smaller fight. They must know something. If they had any inclination that Povetkin is still a force then they would have dropped a belt or took the Wilder fight.
I put the oner on a povetkin win @8/1 a couple of months ago. The ko was also 8/1. Not sure what the odds are now but i just can't see joshua winning
Why do you think they ducked the Wilder fight? To me it looks like Wilder ducked the fight so AJ just wanted to fight the next best which is Povetkin. I think AJ will find this fight tough but should have enough to beat him. We then come to April and Wilder (if he beats Fury) will then duck again and yet again everyone will say it's the other away around.
Oh cmon man, it's not even up for debate now. We have Hearn on video slipping up confirming Whyte is next. Froch even admitted McCracken doesn't want it. The contradictions about Wembley and a September date. The DAZN link which wouldn't be able to host a Wilder fight. The turning down of 50 million guaranteed because they want it in the UK 'for the fans'. The god awful 12-15 million flat fee. Dare I go on?
