In seriousness, research has shown that strong neck muscles have quite a bit to do with ability to take a shot to the head. But research also seems to show that repeated heavy blows can make the brain less resistant to shock over time. Just look at some of the football players with concussion syndromes or whatever it is called. They didn't have issues taking hits earlier in their college days or early pro careers. But later in their careers, every time they took a decent hit, they exhibited symptoms. Merril Hoge comes to mind. It's quite possible that Overeem's brain has gotten tenderized to the point that simply touching gloves with the opponent before the fight may stagger him.
