Without a doubt one of the 5 best fighters in boxing. I personally have him rated #3 behind Crawford and Garcia, just ahead of Chenko and GGG.

Funny thing though, I can't watch the guy fight without thinking of Montell Griffin. He's almost a damn doppleganger in the ring. For the yungstas here, Griffin was really really good, beat Roy Jones (?) once, and James Toney twice, was in Barnburners with Glen Johnson and Tarver and Shumenov, and was only blown out by Jones and Michalczewski, who are all MUCH bigger than him.

But yet and still if he wants to go to the HOF he will need to by a ticket just like Cistatey, IB, Willie Mack and Slender4 (although, IB, 33 is not to late to turn pro, just sayin').

So what it all comes down to is, what does this say about Canelo.

Canelo is miles better than Griffin was! Montell had a glass jaw and Canelo rides a punch brilliantly, different level and where the hell is Loma in your Top 5?

Does these mean GGG will knock him out with a left uppercut in the rematch?

    1. Crawford
    2. Garcia
    3. Canelo
    4. Chenko
    5. Golovkin

Lets just print the records now to eliminate confusion:

    1. 33-0 (24)
    2. 39-0 (30)
    3. 49-1-2 (34)
    4. 11-1 (9)
    5. 38-0-1 (34)

Remember that Sesame Street game "one of these things is not like the other?"

And Griffin was stopped by prime Roy Jones, prime Michalczweski and prime Glen Johnson. How many rounds of "head-rolling" do you think Canelo would have gotten away with with those three?

Besides his stamina issues. Canelo is a highly skilled fighter and very fun to watch. :chuck:

Cant stand Canelo but hes a fantastic fighter and with out a doubt a P4P one and i think id put him in my top 5. Off the top of my head id say Lomo, Crawford, Uysk and then maybe Canelo but then ive also got Inoue.

Mikey Garcia is 39-0 and has won 4 world titles and he's not in the top 5?

No doubt Canelo is gifted ,its Golden Boy that are to blame.
he is obviously doing what he is told & keeping his head down...Why wouldn't a young guy @ 26 getting paid millions not ?

Don't hate him at all but strongly against his tantrums against GGG after he has (knowingly gone along with all of GB's dirty tricks ,ref's, Judges & possibly now Clenbutrol...not to mention the massive weight gains while he makes other fighters (Chavez) drain out ...or bring chicken chin Khan up ?? Not a good look!

Contaminated meat has come nowhere close to being ruled out, and knowing that, any claim that he is a drugs cheat is unproven.

Since the positive test was likely a result of consuming contaminated meat in Mexico, there's no tag that Canelo would have to shake. What I'm trying to understand is what causes you to say he's a confirmed drugs cheat.

Common sense tells us that testing positive and intentionally cheating are two different things. But since Canelo has tested positive, many of his detractors have tried to conflate the two, acting as if simply testing positive for clenbuterol in an area known to have a contaminated meat problem proves cheating.

You're putting questionable words together for effect when we all know he clearly has not been proven a cheat, and any one acting like he been has a clear and obvious agenda against Canelo. It's hard to take a boxing fan seriously with that kind of bias against a fighter.

his positive tests were confirmed, whether he was intentionally cheating does not matter, a reluctant cheater doesnt get a pass for the nobility of his intentions.

What do you mean it does not matter lol ? of course it matters.

He tested positive for trace amounts of clenbuterol, results that were consistent with meat contamination. Did you get that : TRACE amounts of a substance that is a known problem in Mexico, several months prior to the scheduled fight, during a time period before he even started his training camp.

That's not cheating, that's eating meat at restaurants in Mexico and getting tested right after that. Cheating would be getting access to a banned supplement, knowing what it is, and taking it. Eating meat at a restaurant is not an example of cheating.
