the power is there, nobody should question it, but i dont recall Tyson wildly hitting people with open palms, wrists or forearms.

Deontay has that crazy "tip of the whip" power. If he lands the right hand from distance, clean, it's lights out, no doubt.

He apparently does have better than average KO power,

But it don’t look to be due to Tua/Tyson strength- brute punching force, it’s more of a Thomas Hearns “leverage” sort of power. LOL

Wilder does seem to have more one-shot KO power than Joshua

    Nobody doubts his power.....

But I will say this, Duhuapas and even Stiverne l were able to take flush slots without much happening at all.

Prime Tyson lays all of Wilder's opponents out within 3.

Mitch Green and James Tillis went the full distance with Mike Tyson, stop pretending like Tyson destroyed everyone
within 3 rounds, **** is getting old now.

Tyson also fought better competition, and he did it far earlier. Less than TWO years into his career, he was fighting Berbick for the title.

Compare that to Wilder. Outside of, arguably, Stiverne and Ortiz, - he STILL hasn't fought anybody as good as Trevor Berbick after TEN YEARS!!

Duhuapas crowded Wilder, which kept Wilder from getting leverage on his shots and Stiverne kept countering with left hooks and counter rights whenever Wilder tried to throw power shots, which made Wilder hesitant to throw anymore knockout shots. In both fights Wilder adjusted and focused more on speed and volume instead of one knockout punch, since Duhuapas and Stiverne are both good punchers themselves.

It's interesting how every power-puncher has a fight or 2 or 3!! where an unheralded one takes it with ease.

I remember when Michael Moorer fought Mike White, Moorer who KO'd everyone he faced ...but when fighting a non boxing powerless big lug in WHite who had been dropped by club fighters took MM the distance.

Tua, Tyson, Foreman, Liston and even Wilder have all gone the distance with someone who has been dropped before.

Tyson hit Ruddock flush over and over, yet Lewis annihilated Ruddock is another example that comes to mind.

Admittedly though Mike had almost 30 fights two years into his career.. Tyson was 27-0 when he challenged Berbick while Wilder was 32-0 when he challenged Stiverne. Not much of a difference in professional experience. Even Foreman didn't challenge for a title until he was 37-0 and Marciano when he was 42-0.

Good discription "top of the whip". Its like his arms are fully extended but there about half an inch off and hes managed to get every single bit of momentum and snap into his shots and they land just before its too late and youve fully extended. And with his arms being long he gets plenty of it in and he also can fire off his bombs from a reletively safe distance.

He does many things wrong but hes got himself a hell of a gift with that power.

Again, it was like 6-7 years before that occurred. And Wilder fought no one on the level of guys like Tillis, Ribalta, or even Jesse Ferguson! Even the guys he fought after he won the title aren't as good!

Wilder has fought pathetic competition, for far longer than is typical in Tyson's era or the current one. There is a reason for this, and tomato cans Nichols and Sconiers exposed it.

Exactly. But he is sure quick to label his punching power as legendary. Lol

Speaking of KO power to the forehead...
