Parker's team felt that the ref for the Joshua fight was poor, and voiced their displeasure after the fight.

They knew they lost the Whyte fight, their reaction told you everything.....They don't stay silent.

Joshua doesn't just 'tire' from standing for 12 rounds.

You have to make him tire.....Parker didn't do that.

You can complain about the ref all you like, and whilst he was extremely poor, Whyte bullied Parker on the inside.......
Whilst Joshua bullied Whyte on the inside of their fight.

I mean among experienced scorers here and on Twitter, it was a fight that generated a lot of disagreement and disparate cards. That's literally what controversy is.

Maybe, who knows? But AJ did 'accept' the $50m offer on Twitter, which left Hearn about three week's work trying to sound like he was taking it seriously while slowly killing it behind the scenes.

I just think, in general, most fighters would take fights, and most promoters wanna load the dice before they make them happen....

So where were Team Parker's complaints?

    Where was the appeal?

By the fact that every single fight which is scored, ends with less than 100% agreement on the distribution of each round, every single fight is controversial and therefore no victory is justified more or less than any other.

Eh, you know that isn't what I meant. A slim majority thought Whyte deserved the nod, but from what I read there was a sizable minority (as in, within spitting distance of half) that dissented. No use being a sore winner and claiming the result met widespread, almost unanimous acceptance.

AJ got tired. He practically called a time out in the middle of the fight pulling the loose tape even more. Why was the tape job so poor, it's an old tactic to buy time. Let's not pretend in this thread. The ref being as poor and corrupt as he was takes the luster off of AJ's victory. I still have AJ winning but then maybe we would've seen some drama instead of the borefest. AJ not being pushed too hard but still needing timeouts should be concerning to you.

I like this thread. Good old fashioned debate without (yet) too much trolling. Shame this seems to be the exception rather than the rule around here these days

Particularly like that it's not yet descended into a debate around purse split or who is the "draw". Many boxing fans nowadays must be part time accountants how much they care about ppv numbers etc

Anyway I basically agree with your conclusion, AJ the better fundamental fighter but his gas tank and the great leveler of Wilders right hand make me slightly favour deontay in this one. Its definitely (after the fury fight) the match up we need to see in this division

That is the crux of the match-up, which CST did a great job distilling it down to.

(although my leaning remains in the other direction)

But you can't discredit a win purely because it was a 'close win'.....

Parker v Takam/Ruiz/Fury were 'controversial', with only a round in it.

So what was Parker's most 'clear' win?

    Dimitrenko?

I just want people to apply the same standards to both sides.

I'm not discrediting it, and I'm not even really taking sides in this particular argument. I was just barging in to point out, however pedantically, that you can't really call the result non-controversial when there was in fact ...well, controversy around it.

    @Andyw

    It is refreshing isn't it?......

'great leveler of Wilders right hand make me slightly favour deontay in this one.'

To counter this, Joshua's ability to adapt and win in alternative fashion is the reason I slightly favour Joshua in this one.

Let's just hope Hearn/Finkel stop trying to get one up on each other and it actually gets made.

    Ok.....

Whyte's wins over Chisora/Parker were controversial......

As too were Parker's over Fury/Ruiz/Takam......

    Fair enough?

And the ref allowing Wilder extra time to recover after the round where Ortiz was completely dominant?

    House fighters get the benefit.

It's always been the case, and it always will be.

Fair enough, I'd agree that both the Hughie Fury and the Ruiz fights had pretty sizable contingents saying the other guy could've squeaked it, but tbh no such murmurs ring a bell surrounding the Carlos Takam fight. I remember that as being a very straightforward win for Parker at which nobody batted an eyelash. :nusenuse:
