No problem with it, think it's a terrific idea.

But why do we see boxers getting checked after the break, and before the start of the next round?

Surely getting checked, then allowing a 60 seconds break, then the next round, is the way to go?

Seems the wrong way around to me.......

Problem with the fight was Ortiz didn't get checked on after he got knocked down. Oh gee, how could that happen?

Where were you complaining when Parker kept getting warnings by the duckroom ref for hitting AJ?

And then later getting ruled a knockdown from headbutt against Dillian Whyte? And then the ref picking whyte off the floor after Parker knocked him down?

There's so many ridiculous incidents of refereeing con jobs that have taken place in Britian there isn't enough internet bandwidth to cover it all.

This is very true. Recently the Kova vs Clev fight got brought up again, and Calzaghe's "knockouts" too. We've seen so many British stoppages to "protect" the foreign fighter from "punishment", and ridiculous scorecards to boot.

But, this is about the US side of things, where we have seen so many bullshirt cards, partial refereeing and hardly any penalties for doping over the last 3 decades. Even the "having to knock your opponent out to get a draw" literally happened.

The US, the UK and Germany are all bad.
But in this case it's about the US (New York), not about the UK.

I'm sure I saw this happen in the Kownacki vs Kladize fight, the ref had a look at Kownacki before one of the rounds started.

Its a good thing in theory but its just a tool to manipulate fights. The Wilder one didnt make any sense. Ortiz was trying to knock Wilder out, Wilder got hurt, had a break then they called another break to make sure he was OK then sent him out to get hurt again. Now i think of it its a stupid ****ing rule and the Wilder one was just bull****, it was there to protect him and his belt.

That was just plain cheating. Wilder would have probably won anyway but it left a bad taste.

Not like you for completely missing the point again.

This isn't so much a complaint, as it is pointing out that whilst the implementation of checking boxers is a good thing, it's current format is illogical.

End of the round > 60 seconds break > Check boxer

    Is that really wise?

End of the round > Check boxer > 60 seconds break

Far better way to do it......

And remember, these 60 seconds may not seem important, but they can literally be the difference between life and death with the serious injuries these checks are looking for.

Also Wilder didn't even get a warning for his constant rabbit punching.

This isn't a 'Bash Wilder/Complain about Ortiz not being checked'.......

It's about the current NYAC protocol not enforcing any common sense.

I;d just like to make one comment...
Its about time a commission cared more about the fighters & less about the $$$$$$$$ The NYCAC didn't seem to care much about Abdusalamov did they They had to hail a cab to take the guy to hospital
